There are different criteria that candidates must meet to be able to write CTET 2023–

CTET Educational Qualifications
Here are the educational qualifications required for different levels of CTET:
For Primary Teacher (Class 1st to 5th) – CTET Eligibility Criteria for Paper 1:
- Must have passed Class 12th with at least 50% marks and also passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or
- Must have passed Class 12th with at least 45% marks and also passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE 2002 norms, or
- Must have passed Class 12th with at least 50% marks and also passed or appearing in the final year of four-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), or
- Must have passed Class 12th with at least 50% marks and also passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Education (Special Education), or
- Must have passed undergraduate degree and also passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education.
For Elementary Teacher (Class 6th to 8th) – CTET Eligibility Criteria for Paper 2:
Candidates wanting to write Paper 2 of CTET 2023 should meet the following requirements-
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and also passed or appearing in the final year of two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or
- Must have a graduation degree with at least 50% marks and also passed or appearing in the one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), or
- Must have a graduation degree with at least 45% marks and also passed or appearing in the one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) as per NCTE norms, or
- Must have passed Class 12th with at least 50% marks and also passed or appearing in the final year of four-year Bachelor in Elementary Education, or
- Must have passed Class 12th with at least 50% marks and also passed or appearing in the final year of four-year B.A.Ed or B.SC.Ed, or
- Must have an undergraduate degree with at least 50% marks and also passed or appearing in the one-year B.Ed/ (B.Ed Special Education).
CTET Eligibility Age Limit
The minimum age limit is 18 years and there is no maximum age limit for applying for CTET.
CTET Age Relaxation
The following are the categories of candidates who are eligible for age relaxation in CTET:
- SC/ST/OBC candidates: SC/ST/OBC candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
- PWD candidates: PWD candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 10 years in the upper age limit.
- Ex-servicemen candidates: Ex-servicemen candidates are eligible for a relaxation of 3 years in the upper age limit.
Nationality
The candidate should be a citizen of India to apply for the CTET exam.
CTET 2023 Eligibility Criteria
Here are some additional things to keep in mind about the eligibility criteria for CTET 2023:
- The educational qualification requirement may be waived for candidates who have passed the National Eligibility Test (NET) or the State Eligibility Test (SET). The NET and SET are both national-level exams that are conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), respectively. Candidates who have passed either of these exams are exempt from the educational qualification requirement for CTET.
- The teaching experience requirement may be waived for candidates who have passed the B.Ed. examination. The B.Ed. is a bachelor’s degree in education that is offered by many universities and colleges in India. Candidates who have passed this degree are exempt from the teaching experience requirement for CTET.
- Candidates who are currently pursuing their B.Ed. or M.Ed. degree may also apply for the CTET exam. However, it is important to note that these candidates will not be eligible for appointment to teaching positions if they do not complete their degree by the time they are offered a job.
