The selection process involves the following stages:

  1. Merit List Basis:
    • The selection is based on a merit list prepared for all eligible candidates who apply.
    • The merit list considers the average marks from the 10th class exam or its equivalent (under the 10+2 system) and ITI/Trade marks.
  2. Trade/Division/Unit-wise Merit List:
    • Merit lists are prepared based on the trade, division, and unit chosen by the candidate.
    • It is categorized by trade, division, unit, and community.
  3. Document Verification:
    • The division/unit, as per the merit list, calls candidates for document verification following existing rules.
    • Once a candidate is found suitable in all aspects, the division/unit engages the candidate.
  4. Preference Based on Age:
    • If two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate gets preference.
    • If the birthdates are the same, the one who passed the matriculation exam earlier is considered first.
  5. Final Merit List:
    • A final merit list is created trade-wise, division/unit-wise, and community-wise.
    • The list is organized in descending order of the percentage of marks obtained by each candidate.
  6. Allocation of Waiting List Candidates:
    • If there is a shortfall in a specific trade in any division/unit, the RRC has the right to allocate waiting list candidates from that trade in other division/units according to merit.
