Success Story of Ashish Singh – Cleared IBPS CLERK 2018, PNB SO IT 2018

Here is his story:

Hi, my name is  Ashish Singh and I belong to Bhiwani Haryana. I am a B.tech graduate of 2014 batch in computer & science engineering. After engineering I started my career with Capgemini as a Data Analyst. But I was not satisfied with my job. In July, 2017 I started to prepare for banking exams. Appeared for IBPS PO 2017 but could not clear the prelims. In 2018, I faced many health problems and finally in Nov 2018 I decided to step down from my job and to prepare for banking only.

This time I tried really hard but unfortunately I missed IBPS PO mains by 0.7 marks as I got just 10-12 days to prepare for it. But I had approximately 2 months to prepare for IBPS clerk and this time I made it. In mains I scored 121.25 marks and got my first choice, Bank of Baroda.

So here is my strategy for those who are preparing for bank exams.

Quant– Build up your basics and focus a lot in making your foundation strong. If you are a beginner then you can start with RS Aggarwal as it will help you a lot in clearing your basics and further in your practice. Practice DI, number series, simplifications on a daily basis. For mains, prepare high level questions and Oliveboard test series. To be honest, the kind of questions that are covered in Oliveboard test series are extremely helpful in your preparation.

GA– Prepare current affairs on a daily basis from different sources like newspapers, news channels and online PDFs. At least 6 months current affairs is necessary to score good marks in GA. You can use various online sources for this section. I used Oliveboard GK tests and monthly free BOLT series to prepare for this section.

Reasoning– For reasoning there is no need to buy any book. Practice puzzles and other topics from various online sources. I used to solve puzzles on a daily basis for minimum 2 hrs. Oliveboard test series provides best level of puzzles and other misc questions. Recently Oliveboard has launched a book especially for puzzle named Puzzle Mania which I am sure many users will find useful for this section.

English– For this section, I read the Hindu editorial regularly and gave as many mocks as it was possible. I also learned minimum 10 new words on a daily basis to improve vocab from the Hindu editorial.

Role Of Oliveboard: 

While I was preparing for the exams with my job, I hardly had time to practice and give mock tests. But later when I decided to leave my job and prepare for the banking exams in a dedicated manner, I purchased IBPS Clerk test series from Oliveboard and I can’t explain in words how much this helped me.
