UPSSSC PET Exam Pattern
The exam pattern as per the online notification released for the UPSSSC PET Exam is as follows:
- Mode of Exam: The exam will be conducted in offline mode.
- Type of Examination: It will be an Objective Type Questions Examination.
- Total Number of Questions: A total of 100 questions will be asked in the exam.
- Total duration of exam: Total time allowed will be 2 hours.
- Total Marks: The examination is for 100 marks.
- Negative Marking: There will be a negative marking of 1/4th or 0.25 marks per question for every wrong answer.

UPSSSC PET preparation Strategy 2021 – Section-wise Approach:
General Hindi: Exam Strategy
- This section has 25 Multiple choice questions carrying 1 mark each.
- This Part takes less time to solve & Candidates can score more.
- Start with the basics if you never had Hindi as a Subject in your academics.
- Hindi can be a scoring section, if you focus enough on this.
- Focus on reading and writing, it will help you to grasp the grammar part more easily.
Mathematics: Exam Strategy
- Build Up rock-solid concepts by practicing enough.
- Practice each topic in varying difficulty levels to establish a comfort level.
- Take full-length mock tests to build and refine your exam attempt strategy and understand your strengths and weaknesses.
- Start with the practice of basic concepts and topics like Percentage, Profit & Loss, SI & CI, and average.
- Attempt previous year papers to get the idea of the level of questions asked in the quant section.
- While in exam, you can save the questions that are calculative for later. Wasting too much time on a single question is not advisable.
- In order to increase your speed of solving numerical problems, you have to practice hard.
General Knowledge: Exam Strategy
- The questions asked in the General Knowledge section will be one-liner fact based questions.
- A number of questions from the General Science section also asks. so candidates can focus more on studying General Science.
- Attempt previous year questions, as many times the questions are repeated.
- Attempt Questions that you are fully sure of.
- As many fact based questions are asked, you can prepare them from Lucent.
- For general awareness questions, you need to prepare for the last 6 month current affairs.
- For current affairs questions you can refer to any standard magazines where last 6 month current affairs are covered in one book
General Intelligence and Reasoning: Exam Strategy
- Use Venn Diagrams for solving the questions of Syllogism (if asked).
- Blood Relation questions can be easily solved by applying real-life relations to the questions.
- Make it a point to practice puzzles daily. With practice you will gain expertise over this topic.
- The input-output questions seem to be lengthy but once you decode the pattern, you can easily arrive at the solution by proceeding in a stepwise manner.
- Study all the basics and gain knowledge about the methods of solving various kinds of questions.
- Practice about 150–200 questions from each chapter.
- Try to mark out the incorrect options.

- Make Time Table- Many students apply for any exam but then do not study systematically. For systematic study you need a proper time table. So first of all prepare a time table covering all the topics asked in the exam.
