UPTET Syllabus
UPTET Syllabus 2023: The UPTET exam consists of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for candidates aspiring to be Primary Teachers. Whereas Paper 2 is for those wanting to be Upper Primary Teachers. Primary teachers are assigned classes 1-5, and Upper Primary teachers are given classes 6-8. Candidates who want to teach classes 1-8 have to appear for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. The following article provides the selection process, syllabus, and exam pattern of UPTET.
UPTET Syllabus 2023 – Overview
The candidates have to apply for the paper depending on the classes they want to teach. The syllabus for the two papers mostly has common topics. Child Development and Pedagogy, and Languages are common topics. Candidates will be informed of the whole syllabus and exam pattern in the notification. UPTET Syllabus 2023 – Selection Process
First, let’s take a look at the selection process. The UPTET exam is a certification exam. Candidates who clear the exam are awarded a lifetime certification of their chosen category. Those who clear UPTET can then apply to any Uttar Pradesh State school to be Primary teachers, Upper Primary Teachers, or both.
There are mainly three stages in the UPTET selection process-
- Stage 1: The written exam. It consists of 2 papers тАУ Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for those who want to teach Primary Classes (1-5). Paper 2 is for those who want to teach Upper Primary Classes (6-8). Candidates who wish to teach 1-8 classes will have to appear for both.
- Stage 2: The UPTET 2023 written exam result is released. Candidates who score 60% and above are declared to be UPTET qualified.
- Stage 3: Candidates who cleared the test are issued eligibility certificates by UPBEB. These candidates can then proceed to apply to various Uttar Pradesh State Schools for their position of choice.
UPTET Qualifying Marks 2023
Candidates have to achieve a minimum percentage of marks to qualify for the UPTET certification. The total marks are 150 and the minimum that candidates have to score is out of this 150. This minimum qualifying percentage is different for different categories. The following table gives the qualifying marks for different categories.

UPTET Exam Pattern 2023
The UPTET 2023 Exam Pattern consists of two papers тАУ Paper 1 (for Primary teachers) and Paper 2 (for Upper Primary Teachers). Primary means classes 1-5. Upper Primary means classes 6-8. UPTET Syllabus 2023 – Topics for Paper 1 and Paper 2
The UPTET exam consists of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates for Paper 1 have 5 subjects – Child Development and Pedagogy, Hindi, English/Urdu/Sanskrit, Mathematics, and Environmental Sciences. For Paper 2 there are 4 subjects – Child Development and Pedagogy, Hindi, English/Urdu/Sanskrit, Mathematics and Science or Social Science.

UPTET Syllabus for Paper 1
Paper 1 is for candidates who want to become Primary Teachers, which is for classes 1 to 5. UPTET Syllabus for Paper 2
Paper 2 is for candidates who want to become Upper Primary Teachers, which is for classes 6 to 8.
