UPTET Notification 2023 – Application Form
The UPTET Application form is usually released along with the notification. Candidates wanting to register for UPTET should have a valid mobile number, E-mail ID, passport-sized photograph, identity proof like PAN or Adhaar card, signature and other important documents to be able to apply. UPTET Application Fees
The UPTET Application fees differ by category and by the candidate’s choice of position. Depending on the position the candidates apply for, they’ll either have to appear for either Paper 1 or Paper 2 or they’ll have to appear for both. The fees in each case are given in the table below.

UPTET Notification 2023 – Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who register for UPTET 2023 have to meet certain criteria to be eligible for the role. There are two papers that candidates can appear for – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for Primary Teachers for classes 1-5. Paper 2 is for upper primary teachers for classes 6-8. The qualifying criteria for each are different. Those registering for both posts have to meet the criteria for both. Detailed educational qualifications for UPTET applicants are given in this section.
UPTET Educational Qualification
The educational qualification for UPTET candidates is different depending on what post they’re applying for. The following sections gives the required educational criteria for each of Paper 1 and Paper 2-
UPTET Paper 1 Educational Qualification
Candidate appearing for Paper 1 should meet any one of the following criteria-
- Candidates should clear graduation in any discipline from UGC-recognized Universities/Institutions. However, after the completion of graduation, pursuing a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (DElEd) is mandatory. Candidates in the final year of DElEd are also eligible to apply
- Candidates should clear their graduation and post that should pass the Basic Training Certificate (BTC) for distance education. Candidates in the final year are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates should clear graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 50 percent marks. Along with this, candidates should also be pursuing a Bachelor of Education (BEd).
- Candidates should clear graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 45 percent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete BEd.
- Candidates should complete their graduation along with BTC in Urdu. Candidates in the final year are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates should complete their graduation and also possess a diploma in teaching from Aligarh Muslim University.
- Candidates should have completed their graduation and acquired the degree of Moavill-E-Urdu before August 08, 1997.
- Candidates should complete their class 12th with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete the four-year duration Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd).
UPTET Paper 2 Educational Qualification
Candidate appearing for Paper 2 should meet any one of the following criteria-
- Candidates should complete their graduation from a recognised college or university. Along with this, candidates should also complete a two-year duration DElEd (BTC).
- Candidates should clear graduation or post-graduation with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete BEd/ BEd Special Education. Candidates in the final year of BEd/ BEd Special Education are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates should complete their class 12th with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should complete a four-year duration BScEd/ BSc BEd from a UGC/ National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) recognised institution. Candidates in the final year of BScEd/ BSc BEd are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates should complete their class 12th with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete four-year BElEd. Candidates in the final year of BElEd are also eligible to apply.
- Candidates should complete their graduation with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. Along with this, candidates should also complete a one-year duration BEd. Candidates in the final year of BEd are also eligible to apply.
UPTET Age Limit
The candidates who appear for UPTET should be between 18 and 35 years of age. This limit will be detailed further in the UPTET Notification 2023. Also, there is no limit on the number of times one can appear for the UPTET exam.
UPTET Notification 2023 – Selection Process
The UPTET Selection process consists of 3 stages. These are detailed below-
- Stage 1: The written exam. It consists of 2 papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for those who want to teach Primary Classes (1-5). Paper 2 is for those who want to teach Upper Primary Classes (6-8). Candidates who wish to teach 1-8 classes will have to appear for both.
- Stage 2: The UPTET 2023 written exam result is released. Candidates who score 60% and above are declared to be UPTET qualified.
- Stage 3: Candidates who cleared the test are issued eligibility certificates by UPBEB. These candidates can then proceed to apply to various Uttar Pradesh State Schools for their position of choice.
UPTET Notification 2023 – Exam Pattern
The UPTET Exam Pattern consists of two papers – Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 is for candidates wanting to teach classes 1-5 or Primary. Candidates wanting to teach classes 6-8 have to appear for Paper 2. Those who wish to teach classes 1-8 will appear for both. The number of questions, marks per question, duration, sections of paper are detailed in this section.

The exam pattern for Paper 2 (Classes 6-8) is given below. The total duration of the paper is 2 and a half hours (150 min).

UPTET Notification 2023 – Syllabus
The UPTET Syllabus is detailed in the UPTET Notification itself. The syllabi for Paper 1 and Paper 2 are different. The syllabus mainly includes the important topics to be tested under particular sections. These include Child Development and Pedagogy, Languages, Environmental Science/ Science/Mathematics/ Social Science. UPTET Notification 2023 – Admit Card
The UPTET admit card is released a week or so before the exam is held. In 2023, the UPTET will be held tentatively in August. Candidates can expect the admit card to be available a week prior to the exam date. Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board will release the UPTET Admit card on the official website of UPBEB updeled.gov.in. Candidates will require their registration number and password to log in and access the admit card.
UPTET Notification 2023 – Answer Key
Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board will release the UPTET Answer Key 2023 a month after the conduct of UPTET 2023. Candidates will be able to download the answer key from the official website for UPTET. The answer key will assist the candidates in checking their responses and calculating their marks. In case of any discrepancies, UPBEB will open the portal for filing objections in the answer key. The window for raising objections will be open for all candidates to raise any grievances about the answer key. UPBEB will take these into account before announcing the result.
UPTET Notification 2023 – Result
The UPTET Result is usually released once all the objections raised about the answer key are addressed. The UPTET Result is announced on the official website updeled.gov.in. Candidates will require their registration number and password to access their results. The UPBEB will announce the list of candidates who clear the 60% cut for the UPTET certification. Candidates who clear UPTET will be able to download their certification of the same from their candidate portal on the official website.
UPTET Notification 2023 – Validity
The UPTET marks scored by the candidate are valid for a period of 5 years. Candidates who get UPTET certified can then proceed to apply for various teaching positions in Uttar Pradesh State Schools. While the marks have a validity of 5 years, the UPTET certification itself has lifetime validity.
UPTET Notification 2023 – Cut Off
The UPTET cut off is the minimum marks candidates need to score in order to qualify UPTET. The cut off for UPTET is decided by the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Board. A number of factors are taken into account to decide the UPTET Cut Off like the number of candidates who registered, number of candidates who appeared for the exam, previous year trends, etc. The UPTET Cut Off 2023 will be available after the announcement of the UPTET Result 2023.
