IBPS Bank PO – Examination Pattern
The examination includes 3 different stages as mentioned below-
- Preliminary paper
- Main paper
The preliminary paper is divided into 3 sections- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and the last section is that of Reasoning Ability. This paper is of 100 marks and the time given to write it is 1 hour.
30 questions are dedicated to the English Language section, and 35 questions each are dedicated to the other 2 sections.

As per last year’s question paper, you can expect the difficulty level of this section to be between easy and moderate. Questions are generally given on data interpretation, quadratic equation, approximation, number series and other miscellaneous topics (these include percentage, linear equations, time and work, probability etc.)

It is always advised that you keep the study materials minimum and spend adequate time attempting different practice sets and question papers from the previous years. There are mock tests available that will help you understand the kind of questions that you can expect from this section.
IBPS Bank PO – How to prepare for the Quantitative Aptitude Section?
When preparing for this section, first brush up on the basics. If your math is a little out of practice, go through the basics from the NCERT Math textbooks of 8th to 10th grade. Although, you do not need to go through the entire textbooks. Just learn concepts like percentage, profit and loss etc. that will help you for this examination.
In order to maintain time efficiency while writing the paper, ensure that you are fast in calculation. This requires a lot of practice. Make sure you know tables up to 20 and square roots up to 30 by heart.
Learning short cuts is definitely encouraged, but only after you have learned how to deal with each topic the traditional way. In this case, it is essential that you master the traditional methods as well as the shortcuts.
Revision is the key to preparing for this section of the IBPS PO 2018 examinations. Revise important concepts and formulas before attempting the paper. Re-doing mock tests and practice sets also help strengthen concepts.
Time management is very important because you will only have 1 hour to complete the paper. Do not spend extra time on questions that you cannot solve, move on and come back to them once all the other questions have been answered.
