SEBI Grade A Selection Process 2024
The Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI) recruits Grade A Officers after conducting a complete selection process. SEBI Grade A Selection Process 2024 involves three phases and the candidates have to clear each stage to move forward in the selection journey. Only those candidates who will clear Phase 1 will move to Phase 2 and those who will clear Phase 2 will go for Phase 3 as per SEBI Selection Process. SEBI Grade A Selection Process 2024 – All Phases
A three-tiered selection process is followed for the final selection in SEBI. All the stages of the SEBI Grade A Selection Process 2024 are:
- Phase I: Phase I of the SEBI Grade A Selection Process consists of two papers (Multiple Choice questions of 100 marks each). The duration for Paper 1 is 60 minutes and Paper 2 is 40 minutes.
- Phase II: The Phase II is divided into two papers i.e. Paper 1 & Paper 2. Paper 1 will be of General English (Descriptive Test) and Paper 2 will be specific to the stream. The duration of Paper 1 will be 60 minutes and for Paper 2, it will be 40 minutes except for the Information Technology Stream. For IT Stream, the duration will be 180 minutes.
- Interview: This is the final stage of the SEBI Grade A Selection Process. Only the shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Candidate may opt for interview either in Hindi or English. Weightage of marks obtained in Phase II will be 85%, while marks obtained in interview shall be given a weightage of 15%.

SEBI Selection Process – Phase I Pattern
The phase 1 stage is divided into two papers of 100 marks each with different durations. Check details below:
- Paper-1 – 100 Marks – 60 Mins – 30% cutoff
- Paper-2 – 100 Marks – 40 Mins – 40% cutoff

Important Points
- There shall be negative marking (1/4th of marks assigned to the question) for Paper 1 and Paper 2 in Phase 1.
- There shall be a cut-off of a minimum of 30% for Paper 1 (no sectional cut-off shall be there) and a cut-off of a minimum of 40% for Paper 2 in Phase 1.
- Candidates would need to secure separate cut-offs in each paper as mentioned above as well as aggregate cut-off marks of 40% in the Phase 1 exam to be shortlisted for Phase 2.
Note: Marks obtained in Phase 1 shall be used only for shortlisting the candidates for the Phase 2 examination process and will not be counted for the final selection of the candidates.
SEBI Selection Process – Phase II Pattern
The mains exam will be divided into two papers as given below:
- Paper-1 – 100 Marks – 60 Mins – 30% cutoff– 1/3rd Weightage
- Paper-2 – 100 Marks – 40 Mins – 40% cutoff– 2/3rd Weightage

Important Points:
- For candidates who have applied in multiple streams, Paper 2 will be conducted in various shifts, the timings of which will be intimated in the Hall Ticket.
- There shall be negative marking (1/4th of marks assigned to the question) for Paper 2 in Phase II (except IT stream).
- There shall be a cut-off of a minimum of 30% for Paper 1 and a cut-off of a minimum of 40% for Paper 2 in Phase II.
- Candidates would need to secure separate cut-off in each paper as mentioned at (iv) above as well as aggregate cut-off marks of 50% in the Phase II exam (weightage of 1/3rd for Paper 1 and 2/3rd for Paper 2) to be shortlisted for Phase III.
- All question papers (in both Phases, except the test of English) will be set bilingually in Hindi and English.
