Ria Bhadra is a B.Tech graduate from B.P. Poddar Institute of Management and Technology, Kolkata, and passed out in 2015. She joined Cognizant the same year and started preparing for government exams alongside her job. Her first exam was SBI PO 2015, where she narrowly missed the cutoff, but this motivated her to prepare seriously.

She began appearing for multiple exams and joined mock test series to improve her preparation. She qualified for several mains exams and steadily improved her performance through consistent practice and mock test analysis. She cleared multiple exams, including IBPS PO, RRB PO, and SBI Junior Associate.

Her consistent preparation and reliance on mock tests helped her secure AIR 16 in the United Bank of India PGDBF PO. She continued her preparation while working and finally achieved her long-term goal by clearing the RBI Assistant exam. Question 1: What motivated you to start preparing for government exams, and how was your first attempt?

Answer: I have seen most of my family members as part of government service, which allured me to try my luck in this arena. Just after joining Cognizant, I appeared for SBI PO Prelims 2015. This was my first ever government service exam. Though I failed to qualify due to zero level of preparation, the performance boosted up my self-confidence and influenced me to set in with a planned preparation.

Question 2: How did your preparation improve after your initial attempt?

Answer: Then I started appearing for various exams, and my first success was back-to-back qualifying for the IBPS Clerk 2015 mains and the WBSETCL office executive written exam 2016. I joined various mock test series and qualified for SBI PO 2016 Mains. From here, I relied on Oliveboard mock tests very much, improved a lot, and cleared all the mains exams that I appeared in in 2016 and finally secured AIR 16 in United Bank of India PGDBF PO and qualified for SBI Junior Associate.

Question 3: How did mock tests help you in clearing multiple exams?

Answer: I joined the Oliveboard mock test series and found its level more or less tantamount to the real exam level. I relied on Oliveboard mock tests very much, improved a lot, and cleared multiple main exams. I used to give mock tests diligently and write down all the analyses and keep revising them, which made my performance more effective in the examination hall.

Question 4: What was your preparation strategy for quantitative aptitude?

Answer: Since I was strong and confident in quantitative aptitude, the preparation strategy was to write down all important formulas, tables, squares, and cubes in a notebook and revise them regularly. This helped in improving speed and accuracy in the exam.

Question 5: What was your preparation strategy for the English section?

Answer: Being a vernacular medium student, the preparation strategy for English was to read The Hindu newspaper daily, write down new words and proverbs, and make sentences using them. This helped in improving vocabulary and overall performance in the English section.

Question 6: What was your preparation strategy for the Reasoning section?

Answer: The preparation strategy for reasoningg was to practice regularly from various sources. The resource that helped the most was Oliveboard mock tests, which provided exam-level practice and helped in improving problem-solving skills.

Question 7: What resources did you use for general awareness preparation?

Answer: The resource used for General Awareness preparation was Oliveboard’s BOLT series along with daily current affairs preparation from various sources. Writing down and revising current affairs regularly helped in improving performance in this section.

Question 8: How did Oliveboard help you in clearing the RBI Assistant exam?

Answer: Oliveboard helped a lot through its high-level mock tests, which prepared me for difficult exam patterns. I used to give mock tests diligently and write down all the analyses and revise them regularly, which improved my performance. The BOLT series and mock tests were very helpful in preparation.

Question 9: How did you manage preparation along with a full-time job, and what is your advice for aspirants?

Answer: I kept appearing for exams while working and continued practicing mock tests regularly. I would like to say to all aspirants not to lose hope, keep practicing and revising with focus, and do not panic about competition. If I can do it despite having a 10-hour job, anyone can clear the exam with consistent preparation and proper practice.
