1. Success Story of Ravi – A Journey Of Clearing IBPS PO & Clerk 2019

Hello Everyone! My name is Ravi Sharma. I have done my graduation in Electronics and Communication Engineering in 2016 from DAVIET Jalandhar and then worked for Bharti Airtel Ltd. for more than two years before quitting my job.

I started my preparation in January 2019. Initially, I was preparing randomly without having a firm action plan and ended up failing many exams like SBI PO, RRB PO, RRB Clerk, RRB JE, LIC AAO, EPFO ASO, and FCI. But NEVER did I doubt my abilities and finally cleared IBPS PO, IBPS Clerk, LIC Asstt. (Waiting List), SNAP(97.8%ile), and SSC CHSL.

2. Ravi’s Preparation Strategy For Prelims & Mains

2.1 Prelims Preparation Strategy

2.1.1 English Section Preparation Strategy

READ LESS BUT READ THAT LESS VERY VERY WELL. It is okay to read just 4-5 articles daily but make sure that you are comprehending each article. Don’t move to the next sentence until the previous one makes sense to you. Initially do not focus on the reading speed but on enhancing your comprehension skills. Apart from this, do solve a bunch of quizzes daily and for Vocabulary, I would recommend Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis.

In Actual Exam: Do the GRAMMAR questions as fast as possible to get much time for READING COMPREHENSION.

2.1.2 Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

Clear your basics first, learn the right approach of puzzles, and this subject can become your forte with a couple of months of consistent efforts. Generate speed by daily practicing Syllogism, Blood Relation, Coding-Decoding, Direction Sense, Input-Output, around 5 Puzzles, etc.

In Actual Exam: Do Miscellaneous questions quickly because we need at least 3 minutes per puzzle. Keep around 11–12 minutes aside if the paper has 4 puzzles.

2.1.3 Quant Section Preparation Strategy

Strong Basics, Consistent Practice, and Mental Calculations are important. Don’t rush while clearing your basics and practice a bunch of questions after you complete every chapter. Be Consistent in Simplification, Approximation, DI, Number Series, Quadratic Equations, etc. And push your mind to do mental calculations more often. For Eg: Your mind should see 35*18 as 70*9 and calculate it in mind.

In Actual Exam: Attempt the paper in such a manner that you at least get around 6–7 minutes for the 10 or so Arithmetic Questions.

2.2 Mains Preparation Strategy

2.2.1 Quant Preparation Strategy

Make sure you analyze and solve every question one more time at least in the case of Quants. You will find this section absolutely tough but remember, no matter how hard it is going to be, you have to do it. Apart from the mock test, Solve previous year memory-based mains paper, it will give you an idea of questions they ask.

During practice: Practice as many DIs as you can. Focus more on DI as it has huge weightage in the mains.

Pro-Tip: Do more mental calculations, use the pen only when it is necessary. It helps immensely!

2.2.2 Reasoning Preparation Strategy

Analyze and solve every question again from the mock test + practice as many different types of questions as you can. In Reasoning, how familiar you are with the type of question that is being asked is what helps you solve that particular question in less time. So, Familiarity with a question type or a puzzle would be the weapon for you to score high in this subject.

Pro-Tip: In the exam, touch the puzzles at last.

2.2.3 English Section Preparation Strategy

In my case, no grammar but reading continuously worked. I read regularly and it made all the difference. Read less and understand more, solve 3 RCs every day, solve a few quizzes and that’s all for this subject. These days mains exams are mostly more concerned about the reading skills than the grammar skills of a candidate. You will hardly see 7–8 questions from the grammar and rest from the RC.

Pro-Tip: Read and be consistent! And while you read, make sure you are developing fast reading techniques during the process.

2.2.4 GA Strategy

Be regular in your revision sessions and you’ll nail it easily. Target around 90% in GA.

2.2.5 Descriptive Writing & Interview Tips

Descriptive Writing: Practice a couple of essays and letters every day when you are about 15 days away from the mains exam. And make sure you are good at typing, grammar, and spellings.

Interview: Try to dig deeper into your personality. Prepare your answers on your own with utmost honesty. Try to give a few mock interviews. Be confident and remember that language is not a barrier.

3. How Oliveboard Shaped Ravi’s Preparation?

I owe a lot of credits for my success to Oliveboard. I bought it last year in August and ended up clearing three exams within the next five months. The quality of questions and the user interface of OB is closest to the actual exam. The analysis, the feedback on descriptive writing, and the discussion forum are other perks of using OB. If you are using OB mock tests correctly and analyzing it properly, success is bound to happen to you.

4. His Tips To Aspirants

Have Faith and Be consistent.

With consistency, results improve.

With results, confidence develops.

With Confidence, you believe in yourself more.

And when you believe in yourself, anything is possible.
