UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2024

UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2024 consists of three stages: Written Examination, Physical Fitness Test and Interview/Personality Test. In written exam, there will be two papers of total 5 hours duration. Paper 1 consists of question on General Ability and Intelligence and the weightage of Paper 1 will be 250 marks. Paper 2 consists of question about General Studies, Essays, and Comprehension and carries the weightage of 200 marks. The written exam is followed by PET/PST and Medical Test. After that Interview is conducted.

UPSC CAPF Selection Process

The UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2024 has three stages. This means that those candidates who successfully clear all the stages of the exam, they have the opportunity to be recruited as Assistant Commandants in various CAPF services mentioned in the notification.

The three stages of the CAPF selection process are:

  • Written exam
  • Physical Efficiency Test/ Physical Standard Test/ Medical Test
  • Personality test/ Interview

UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2024 – Written Test

The first stage of the CAPF Selection Process is the Written Exam. Candidates who clear this written test stage, they qualify for the Physical Standard Test/Medical Test.

The details about the Written Test are:

  • There are two papers in the written test i.e. Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • Paper 1 is objective-type and Paper 2 is subjective-type.
  • The weightage of Paper 1 is 250 marks and for Paper 2 is 200 marks.
  • For Paper 2, Essay (English or Hindi) will be for 80 marks and Precis Writing, Comprehension Components, and other communications/ language skills (English) will be of 120 marks.
  • Duration of the Paper 1 is 2 hours and for Paper 2, it is of 3 hours.
  • Paper 1 is bilingual (both English and Hindi) while Paper 2 consists questions in English only.
  • Paper 1 includes questions on General Ability and Intelligence
  • Paper 2 includes questions on General Studies, Essays, and Comprehension.

Note:

  • To move to the next stage (Paper-2), candidates must first achieve a minimum passing score in Paper-1. The Commission sets these qualifying marks, and only those who meet them in Paper-1 will have their Paper-2 evaluated.
  • While answering Paper 2, candidates must use the language specified for each question. Answers written in different languages will not be accepted or taken into consideration. It’s important to follow the language instructions provided for each question to ensure that your responses are valid and considered during the evaluation process.

UPSC CAPF Selection Process 2024 – PET/PST and Medical Test

To proceed to the next stage, a candidate must meet the minimum qualifying marks in the CAPF written examination. Those candidates who meet the cut off criterion is called for Physical Efficiency Tests (PET) and a Medical Standards Test. Candidates successful in the PET are eligible for the Medical Standards Test, while those who do not qualify in the PET will be disqualified from further consideration in the selection process.

Note:

  • In the case of Pregnant female candidates, they will not be allowed for PET.
  • Candidates must make the appeals to the Appellate Authority, designated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • This must be done within a period of 15 days after the results of these tests will be announced.

UPSC CAPF Selection Process – Interview/Personality Test

The Interview/Personality Test carries 150 Marks. Candidates who are short-listed for the Interview/Personality Test, provisionally will be issued a Detailed Application Form (DAF) in which among other things, they will be required to indicate their preference of Forces.

Further details about the personality Test are as follows:

  • Candidates declared medically unfit have the option to appeal before the “Review Medical Board” for final round consideration, with those allowed for appeal being considered for the final round.
  • Shortlisted candidates for the interview are required to download the e-summon letter from the official website, using their seven-digit roll number and captcha code.
  • The interview panel is composed of four members, including a chairperson who is a serving member of CAPF, along with experienced professors and experts in relevant fields.
  • The interview process includes an introductory session designed to boost candidate confidence.
  • Questions during the interview are centered around the information provided in the Detailed Application Form (DAF).
  • The interview further encompasses inquiries into both national and regional current affairs, assessing candidates comprehensively.

CAPF AC Selection Process 2024: Detailed Application Form (DAF)

Candidates who qualify for the Interview, will be provided with a Detailed Application Form (DAF). Several details will have to be specified in the form, including their preference of forces.

Before getting started with the form filling for DAF, candidates should ensure about the documents and information that will be needed during the form-filling process. It is important to keep them ready at the start.

The complete list of documents needed for DAF filling:

  • Scanned copy of the candidate’s age certificate.
  • Scanned copy of the certificates showing the candidate’s educational qualification.
  • Scanned copy of the category certificate (if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of the Undertaking duly signed by the candidate seeking relaxation under Non-Creamy Layer OBC category.
  • Scanned copy of duly filled in and signed proforma given as Annexure to Detailed Application Form by the candidate seeking relaxation as OBC candidate.
  • Scanned copy of the certificate in support of claim of age concession (if applicable).
  • Scanned copy of Discharge Certificate if claiming to be an Ex-Serviceman.

The above-mentioned documents must be scanned in their original copies in 200 DPI greyscale. They must then be converted into a single PDF file up to 2 MB. The PDF file must not be password protected and should be uploaded as part of DAF.

Important Information for Detailed Application Form (DAF):

  • Provide accurate and truthful information in the form to avoid discrepancies.
  • Any inconsistency during cross-checking may result in the cancellation of candidature.
  • In column 10 of the DAF, specify the preference of Force, as changes won’t be allowed after submission.
  • Category certificate must follow the prescribed format available on the UPSC website.
  • Ensure the date of birth in the form aligns with the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate.
  • Candidates passing the Higher Secondary Examination can upload a scanned copy of the relevant certificate.
  • Educational qualification certificates should be issued by the University or recognized examination bodies.
  • For age relaxation based on Jammu and Kashmir domicile, upload a scanned copy of the District Magistrate’s certificate proving residency from January 1, 1981, to December 31, 1990.
  • Ex-Servicemen claiming age concession must upload a scanned copy of the certificate as specified by UPSC.
