Ashtamudi Lake – This Lake is located in the Kollam district of Kerala. This lake has been listed under the Ramsar Convention as a wetland of international importance.

Chilka Lake – The Located on the East coast of India in the state of Odisha. It is the second-largest Coastal Lagoon in the world and largest in India. It is home to thousands of migratory birds who visit in the winter season.

Dal Lake – Located in the city of Srinagar in Kashmir, this lake is known as the Jewel of Srinagar for its scenic beauty. It a major tourist destination for people visiting from all over the world.

Dhebar lake – This is an Artificial lake, one of the largest in the country. It is located in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan. It is also known as Jaisamand Lake as it surrounds the Jaisamand Wildlife sanctuary. It was built in the 17th century.

Kanakria Lake – This is a famous lake in the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The lake was completed in the year 1451 by the then ruler of Gujrat – Ahmad Shah II. Many tourists visit this lake to experience its scenic beauty.

Kolleru Lake – This lake is situated between the deltas of Krishna and Godavari river, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a freshwater lake, one of the largest in India.

Loktak lake – It is located in the State of Manipur and it is the largest freshwater lake in the Northeast region of India. It has many big and small floating islands called “Phumdi” spread over it.

Lonar Lake – This lake is located in the Buldhana district of Maharashtra. The lake is called a meteor lake as it was created by the impact of a meteor on earth during the Pleistocene epoch.

Nal Sarovar Lake – This lake is situated in Gujrat. The lake along with the adjoining wetlands is declared as Nal Sarovar Bird sanctuary. This bird sanctuary is the home to many migratory birds coming from as far as Siberia.

Pangong Lake – The lake is located on the Indo-China Border in the Leh Ladakh region of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. 60% of the lake is on the Chinese border.

Tsomoriri Lake – This is a mountain lake located in the Ladakh area of Jammu and Kashmir. The lake is listed for protection under the Tsomoriri wetland conservation reserve. It is one of the largest high altitude lakes in the country

Wular Lake – This is the largest freshwater lake in the country located in Bandipura district of Jammu and Kashmir. The water to this lake is a supplier by the Jhelum river.
