Success Story of Shashank Negi

Introduction

Hi, My name is Shashank Negi. I’m from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. I’ve done MBA in the year 2019 and BTech in 2017. Recently I qualified for the IBPS PO and Clerk Exam on my first attempt.

Brief Description

I started my preparation in January 2021. Prior to that I was working in the private sector and had never appeared in Government jobs exams. I took one month to understand the concepts, syllabus and method to solve the questions. For this I took help from YouTube. Channels like Olive board provide free content on Youtube which would be useful for beginners.

After that I purchased the Oliveboard test series and used to practice mocks daily. First I used to get very less percentile. But I never lost hope and always analyzed the mocks diligently. I appeared in many exams like ECGC PO, SBI CLERK, RRB assistant, RRB officer, Nainital bank clerk and MT but wasn’t able to clear the phase 1 exams although I missed the cutoffs narrowly in each of them.

But every failure motivated me to work harder and I used to analyze my weak areas and used to work on them. I decided to get perfect in solving puzzles in the reasoning so there were days when I used to solve 15-20 puzzles each day. After that I appeared in NIACL AO, SBI PO, IBPS PO AND CLERK exams.

I qualified phase 1 of each of them. In NIACL AO mains exams I got 33 points above the cutoff of ews but couldn’t qualify it just because of descriptive paper. But I qualified SBI PO, IBPS PO AND clerk mains. In SBI PO I got 15 numbers above the cutoff but couldn’t make it to the final list because of less marks i got in the interview. Since I had learned from my poor performance in SBI po interview I performed well in IBPS PO interview and got 75 marks out of 100 in the interview.

In the main IBPS exam I got 102.25 marks. That made my final score 51.33 out of 100. I have got PNB (my first priority) as a PO and union bank (3/4th priority) as a clerk. Soon I am going to join PNB this year (2022).

Preparation Strategy

English- Read editorials. Make your own notes of grammar from the sectional tests and mocks you attempt. Try to write essays on online platforms like Grammarly. It will improve your grammar.

Reasoning- Take sectional tests and mocks. Practice at least 10-15 puzzles daily.

Quant- Practice at least 5 DIs daily. Also, practice trying to solve 2-3 sectional tests and mocks.

GA- Read the monthly pdfs twice and after that go for the video content on Youtube. Listen to the videos carefully.

Role of Oliveboard

Oliveboard helped in every step. From the beginning, I took mocks and sectional tests of Oliveboard. It provides quality content that is more than enough to provide an edge over others. It also provides a platform on its website for Descriptive writing. That’s awesome. I also used to study from the free pdfs that olive board provides. The Youtube channel of Oliveboard is a great source of study, especially the GA part.

Feedback for Faculty

My favourite faculty in Oliveboard is Mrs Sushmita Tripaathi Ma’am. I study current affairs from her on Youtube.
