LIC AAO & AE Syllabus 2023 and Exam Pattern – Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has released the LIC AAO Notification for the recruitment of specialist officers and assistant engineers. As per the notification, a total of 300 vacancies for Assistant Engineers (Civil, Electrical, Structural, Electrical/Mechanical/MEP Engineers) & Architects have been announced.

Before taking the exam, it is crucial for applicants to be aware of the LIC AAO and AE exam pattern for 2023 and LIC AAO and AE Syllabus 2023. It will be simpler for candidates to prepare for the exam if they are fully aware of the exam format and scoring system.

Both the LIC Assistant Engineer prelims exam and the LIC Assistant Engineer main exam will be objective and descriptive tests in 2023.

LIC AAO Exam Pattern 2023

Let us look into the details of the scheme of the exam so that we can understand it better and thereby prepare in a better way. 

Selection of Assistant Engineers and Assistant Administrative Officers will be done through a three-tiered process and subsequent Pre-recruitment Medical examination.

1. Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

2. Phase-II: Main Examination

3. Interview.

LIC AAO Prelims Exam Pattern [For both AAO (SO) & AE]:

LIC AAO Prelims Exam will be an online objective test comprising of three sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

Note:

  • English Language Test is qualifying in nature and the marks in the English Language will not be counted for prelims ranking.
  • Each correct answer will carry 1 mark. For each incorrect answer there will be negative mark of 1/4th of the assigned mark,

LIC AAO Mains Exam Pattern [For both AAO (SO) & AE]:

The main examination will consist of

1. Objective Tests for 300 marks and

2. Descriptive Test for 25 marks.

  • Both the objective and descriptive tests will be online.
  • The objective test will have separate timing for every section.
  • Candidates will have to answer the Descriptive test by typing on the computer.
  • The descriptive test will be administered immediately after the completion of the objective test.

  • Descriptive test of English Language etc. will be of qualifying nature and the marks in the English Language will not be counted for ranking.

  • The minimum marks to be obtained in each Section and cut off marks for each section and in the aggregate shall be decided by LIC.

3. Phase-III: Interview

  • Marks obtained in the Main Examination only will be considered for shortlisting for interview. 
  • Maximum Interview marks are 60 and qualifying marks for EWS, Unreserved, OBC are 30. Qualifying marks for SC /ST/PwBD candidates are 27.
  • The number of candidates to be called for interview will be about three times the number of vacancies.
  • Marks obtained in the Main examination + marks obtained in the interview will be considered for final merit listing.

4. Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination

Shortlisted candidates in the final merit list will have to undergo Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination and if found medically fit, will be offered an appointment.
