National Tribal Festival ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ Inaugurated in Jamshedpur

On October 7th, Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Shri Arjun Munda, inaugurated the Aadi Mahotsav, the National Tribal Festival, in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. This grand event is being organized by the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED), Ministry of Tribal Affairs. It will take place from October 7th to October 16th, 2023.

About Aadi Mahotsav

The Aadi Mahotsav is an annual celebration that showcases tribal entrepreneurship, craftsmanship, culture, cuisine, and trade. It provides a crucial platform to exhibit the rich and diverse heritage of tribes from all across India. In this year’s festival, 336 tribal artisans and artists, including those from Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) and Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) beneficiaries, will be highlighted.

The event will feature 30 stalls showcasing the work of artisans, around 11 stalls from VDVKs, and 5 cuisine stalls from Jharkhand. Additionally, there will be 68 artisan stalls from other states, along with 15 cuisine stalls. The festival will include live demonstrations, offering a glimpse into the exquisite talents of tribal artisans in various categories, including textiles, painting, jewelry, metalwork, cane and bamboo craftsmanship, and cuisine.

This initiative plays a significant role in bringing tribal craftsmanship and products to the global stage and garnering international recognition for their unique quality and artistry.
