There are different physical standards for different posts. The details are as follows:
Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/ Preventive Officer), Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN:
- (i) Physical Standards:
Height 157.5 cm. Chest 81 cm (fully expanded with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.) | Height relaxable by 5 cm in the case of Garwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Scheduled Tribes. |
- (ii) Physical Test:

Walking | 1600 metres in 15 minutes |
Cycling | 8 Km in 30 minutes |
- Candidates with disabilities applying for the position of Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/ Preventive Officer) must fulfill the physical requirements, including height, chest size, and weight, as specified for the position.
- However, candidates with orthopaedic disabilities are permitted certain physical test accommodations.
- For candidates in the OL (One Leg), OAL (One Arm and One Leg), categories, the “Walking” exam will be required.
- In the case of candidates in the OA (One Arm), OL (One Leg), and OAL (One Arm and One Leg) categories, the “Cycling” test will not be required.
Physical standards for the Post of Sub-Inspector in National Investigation Agency:

SSC CHSL Medical Examination
