1. Inspiring Success Story of Soniya Dutta

Hello, I am Soniya Dutta. I am from Kolkata, West Bengal. I have completed B.tech in Computer Science and Technology (2018 batch). I started preparing for banking exams from the end of my final year after getting placed in “Virtusa Polaris” as the Banking sector was always on my priority list.

I have cleared IBPS CLERK 2019 and I have been selected in Clerical Cadre for UCO BANK.

2. Soniya Dutta Subject-Wise Preparation Strategy

2.1 Quant Section Preparation Strategy

There is only one strategy for this section i.e. clearing basics and practicing questions. Try to find out your weak points by giving mock tests and use sectional tests to strengthen it. For practice, one can refer to Quantum Cat by Sarvesh K. Verma. Regular practice of DI, simplification, number series is recommended as these are really easy and scoring. Percentage, Profit and loss, SI & CI, Boat & Streams are important for both prelims and mains so don’t skip these topics. Try to remember squares (1-40 at least) and cubes (1-25) for time-saving purposes as every second in the exam hall is important.

2.2 English Section Preparation Strategy

This is generally one of the most scoring sections & one can easily attempt 85-90% questions if prepared well. For this section, I started my preparation with basic grammar rules (followed by question-solving) and reading newspapers. Newspaper reading is utterly important as it increases our reading speed which helps in solving RC questions. Harshita mam’s videos helped me a lot in shaping my preparation.

2.3 Reasoning Section Preparation Strategy

This section is critical as there is no particular formula for this. I solved various puzzles and kept a watch on my accuracy and time. Regular practice helped me to identify and rectify my weak areas. Syllogisms, inequality, blood relation, coding-decoding are scoring topics and regular practice can provide a 100% strike rate.

2.4 GA Section Preparation Strategy

GA is a very important and scoring section. I used to follow Oliveboard’s monthly GA quiz and a few other sources. I also followed Oliveboard’s BOLT magazine as they are very lucid and precise. I made notes and revised them on a daily basis. Static GK and current affairs are interrelated so both should go hand-in-hand.
