Margaret Atwood & Bernardine Evaristo have jointly won 2019 Booker Prize. Atwood's “The Testament” & “Girl, Woman, Other” by Evaristo shared the prize. British Indian novelist Salman Rushdie's “Quichotte” was among the 6 books shortlisted for the prize.
2 shared the prize even though Booker rule says not to divide.
Abhijit Banerjee, Esther Duflo & Michael Kremer won 2019 Nobel Economics Prize for their work on poverty. Duflo is the youngest person and second woman to be awarded the prize. The three laureates are expected to split a $915,000 cash prize.
Prize was established by Sweden's central bank.
India & Netherlands launched the 2nd phase of the Local Treatment of Urban Sewage streams for Healthy Reuse (LOTUS-HR) program. The programme was held during the visit of Netherlands King & the Queen in the presence of Union Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan.
The project was initiated in July 2017.

RBI has enhanced the withdrawal limit for the account holder of Punjab and Maharashtra Cooperative Bank to 40,000 Rs from 25,000 Rs. This is the third time; RBI has raised the withdrawal limit since its clamp down on PMC Bank last month.

Andhra Pradesh CM Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy will launch YSR Rythu Bharosa - PM Kisan Samman Yojana. Under the scheme, farmers will get financial assistance of Rs 13,500 per annum in 3 instalments, with the State Govt contributing Rs 7,500 & the Centre Rs 6,000.

Thyssenkrupp ties up with Nayara Energy, to provide project consultancy for Nayara Energy’s upcoming petrochemical units in Vadinar, Gujarat. The company headquartered in Germany is collaborating with Nayara Energy for the second time after 2000.
In 2017, Nayara Energy was acquired by Rosneft.

World Students' Day is marked as the birthday of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. It is observed on 15 October. In 2010 the United Nations declared 15 October as "World Students' Day". The day honours Kalam’s efforts in the field of science & technology.
Former president Kalam is also known as Missile Man of India.
