TNPSC Group II Exam Pattern
The TNPSC Group 2 Examination will be conducted in 3 phases:
- Preliminary
- Mains: This will comprise 2 papers: Paper I and Paper II.
- Interview
For Group 2 (Interview Posts): Selection of candidates for vacancies released under Group 2 is done on the basis of the preliminary examination, main examination, and the Interview.
For Group II A (Non-Interview Posts): Selection of candidates for vacancies released under Group 2 A will be done on the basis of the marks secured in the written examination.

- The TNPSC Preliminary examination will have to be an objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) test.
- The total number of questions is 200.
- The total marks of the preliminary examination is 300.
- The questions will be in both English and Tamil languages.
- The General Tamil or General English Paper will have 100 Questions.
- The general studies section has 75 questions and 25 questions from the aptitude and mental ability test section.
- The duration of the TNPSC Preliminary Examination is 3 hours (180 minutes).
- No negative marking is applicable.
- The minimum qualifying marks for the Preliminary examination is 90 marks.
