United States is at the second position.
ADB & India signed a $250 mn loan to Energy Efficiency Services Limited to expand energy efficiency investments in India that will benefit agricultural, residential & institutional consumers. In addition, $46 mn financing will be provided from the CTF.

Mallika Srinivasan-Chairman of Tractors and Farm Equipment has been appointed to the Global Board of the US Chamber of Commerce’s US-India Business Council (USIBC). Shekar Ayyar, Rajan Navani and David Taghioff have also been appointed to the Global board.
USIBC was formed in 1975 as a business advocacy organization.
India has secured a USD 277 million (about Rs 1,900 crore) loan from Germany to establish an energy-efficient housing programme in the country. The housing programme loan agreement has been signed between State Bank of India & German development bank KfW.
Programme is part of the Indo-German Development Co-operation.
Amitabha Bagchi’s new novel titled, “Half the Night Is Gone” won the DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2019. The novel is being cited as a novel in English that feels like a book written in an Indian language which has lost nothing in the translation.

NPCI has setup a subsidiary to export the UPI for governments and central banks interested in implementing similar instant fund transfer in their countries. The subsidiary will also look at various business propositions exporting the payment solution.

ArcelorMittal & Nippon Steel Corporation combine, which acquired Essar Steel through an insolvency driven process has formed a new JV company ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India and appointed Aditya Mittal, President and CFO, Arcelor Mittal as its Chairman.
ArcelorMittal will hold 60% in the new company.

Veteran actor Shriram Lagoo passed away in Pune, Maharashtra. The 92-year old actor died due to age-related ailments. Lagoo played important role in the growth of theatre movement in Maharashtra in the post-Independence era. He was also a social activist.
Lagoo was also an ENT surgeon.
