World Laughter Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of May to raise awareness about laughter and its many healing benefits. More than 70 countries around the world celebrate World Laughter Day on the first Sunday of May.

GST collection hits all-time high of over Rs 1.41 lakh crore in April

The gross Goods and Services Tax revenue collected in the month of April is at a record high of over ₹ 1.41 lakh crore indicating sustained economic recovery.

Of the gross GST, CGST is Rs 27,837 crore, SGST Rs 35,621 crore & IGST is Rs 68,481 crores.

India, Russia To Establish 2+2 Dialogue In Boost To Partnership

India and Russia have agreed to establish a '2+2 Ministerial Dialogue' at the Foreign & Defence Minister level between the two countries. Russia is the 4th country and 1st Non-Quad member country with which India has established the '2+2 Ministerial dialogue' mechanism.

UK becomes first country to give green light to self-driving cars on motorways

The Government of the United Kingdom became the first country to announce that it will be regulating the use of self-driving cars at slow speeds on motorways.

The Ministry will start with the Automated Lane Keeping Systems- ALKS- which uses software and sensors to keep cars within the lane and allowing them to brake and accelerate without driver input.

The first such vehicles are expected to appear on public roads as soon as in 2021.

Axis Bank board okays reclassification of NIACL as 'public investor' from 'promoter'

Public sector insurer, The New Assurance Co Ltd (NIACL) has been reclassified as a 'public shareholder' of Axis Bank from being a 'promoter' earlier.

The country's third-largest private sector lender had received a request from NIACL to reclassify it to the public category from promoter category investor.

Wipro overtakes HCL Tech to become third most-valued Indian IT firm

Wipro regained its position as the 3rd largest Indian IT services company by market capitalization of ₹ 2.65 trillion by suppressing HCL Technologies' ₹ 2.62 trillion market cap.

TCS remains at the top of the list with a market cap of ₹ 11.51 trillion followed by Infosys.

World’s most powerful weather, climate-change forecasting supercomputer to be built in UK

Microsoft and UK's Met Office have teamed up to build the world’s most powerful supercomputer to forecast weather and climate change.

Likely to be operational in 2022, the supercomputer will provide accurate warnings on severe weather and help protect from the impact of increasingly extreme storms, floods, and snow in the UK.

Government amends the EDLI Scheme; Increases maximum sum assured to ₹ 7 Lakhs

The central government amended the Employees' Deposit-Linked Insurance (Amendment) Scheme, 2021. In line with the amendment, the maximum sum assured payable under the EDLI Scheme was increased from ₹ 6 Lakhs to ₹ 7 Lakhs.

The claim amount under EDLI Scheme has been changed to 35 times the average monthly salary in the past 12 months.

Airtel Payments Bank Increases Day-End Balance Limit To ₹ 2 Lakh

Airtel Payments Bank increased its day-end account balance limit for customers from ₹ 1 lakh to ₹ 2 lakh, becoming the first payments bank in the country to do so.

The bank deposits are insured under the DICGC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the RBI.
