Wadia Group-backed no-frills carrier GoAir has been rebranded as 'Go First'.

GoAir will now be known as Go First, is rebranding itself as an ultra-low-cost carrier. The airline is in the process of transitioning all its operations under this new brand. The airline has filed the Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) for its Rs, 3,600 crores of initial public offering (IPO), betting big on its ultra-low-cost business model.

Cyclone Tauktae: First cyclonic storm of 2021

Cyclone Tauktae (pronounced Tau-Te), classified as a very severe cyclonic storm (VSCS) and developed as a depression in the Arabian Sea on May 14 morning, it strengthened into a VSCS by the early hours of May 16.

The cyclone has been given the name ‘Tauktae’ by Myanmar. It means 'gecko', a highly vocal lizard, in the Burmese language.

Dr. Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted of Indian descent wins World Food Prize 2021

Dr Shakuntala H.Thilsted, a global nutrition expert of Indian descent has won the prestigious 2021 World Food Prize for her groundbreaking research in developing holistic, nutrition-sensitive approaches to aquaculture and food systems.

Her research on small native fish species in Bangladesh led to the development of nutrition-sensitive approaches to aquatic food systems.

6th UN Global Road Safety Week to be held 17-23 May 2021

“Streets for Life” is the slogan chosen for the 6th UN Global Traffic Safety Week, which this year is celebrated between 17 and 23 May, to call for 30 km/h (20 mph) speed limits to be the norm for cities, towns, and villages worldwide.

The Week will also be the officially launch the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030.

Kobe Bryant formally inducted into Hall of Fame in postponed ceremony
