Govt announces Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for year 2018

Government announced the Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for the year 2018.These awards are to be given to 69 workers employed in the Departmental Undertakings and Public Sector Undertakings of the Central and State Governments and Private Sector Units employing 500 or more workers. This year Prime Minister’s Shram Awards are given in three different categories.

India's renewable energy generation capacity crosses 100 gigawatts

India’s renewable energy generation capacity excluding large scale hydro projects has crossed 100 GW. The country stands fourth in the world in terms of installed renewable energy capacity, fifth in solar and fourth in wind in terms of installed capacity. While 100GW has been installed, 50GW is under installation and 27GW is under tendering. India will install 450GW by 2030

Tamil Nadu Govt in consultation with Germany to sign MoU to procure 2,500 buses for public transport

The Tamil Nadu Government is in consultation with Germany to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to procure 2,500 buses for public transport. At least nine lakh women in the state have been benefited in the free travel scheme. The Minister said that an additional allocation of 150 crore rupees was allocated for the Transport Department

Ganga Prasad sworn in as Governor of Manipur

The Governor designate of Manipur Ganga Prasad was sworn in as the Governor of Manipur at a ceremony held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal. The Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur PV Sanjay Kumar administered the oath of office and secrecy to Shri Ganga Prasad. 1 MT of Manipur’s Black Rice ‘Chak-Hao’ exported to Europe

In Manipur, a consignment of one Metric Tonne of organic Chak-Hao was exported to Europe. Locally known as Chak-Hao, the Black Rice found in Manipur had got the GI tag and it had good demands from different parts of the country and abroad. For the first time, one Metric Ton of this highly nutritious rice variety was being exported officially to different European countries.

Maiden al-Mohed Al-Hindi exercise set to begin between Indian Navy and Saudi Arabia Navy

The Indian Navy's visit to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was set rolling with the Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet (FOCWF), Rear Adm Ajay Kochhar visiting the Fleet Cdr of Royal Saudi Navy's Eastern Fleet, Rear Adm Majid Al Qahtani on 10 Aug 21. This was held at King Abdul Aziz Naval Base, which is the Headquarters for Saudi Eastern Fleet.

Deutsche Bank gets nod to set up IFSC banking unit at GIFT City

Deutsche Bank will set up its IFSC banking unit at India's first global financial centre in Gujarat. The bank has received approval from the GIFT SEZ Authority to set up an IFSC banking unit at India's first International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) at GIFT City, Gujarat. The International Financial Services Centre in GIFT City was set up in 2015.

Indian Bank signs Memorandum of Understanding with Paralympic Committee

Public sector Indian Bank has signed a MoU with Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) as one of the banking partners of the Paralympic Games scheduled to commence from August 24 in Tokyo, Japan. 130th edition of Durand Cup 2021 scheduled to be held at Kolkata

Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla gets one-year extension

Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla was given a one-year extension beyond his present tenure that was to end next week. Bhalla, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, was appointed as the Home Secretary in August 2019. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved extension in service to Bhalla as Home Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs
