ADB approves $96 mn loan for safe drinking water project in Himachal Pradesh

The Asian Development Bank has approved a USD 96.3 million (about Rs 770 crore) loan to fund safe drinking water and sanitation project in Himachal Pradesh. The loan has been provided under the Himachal Pradesh Rural Drinking Water Improvement and Livelihood Project.The project meets the objectives of the Jal Jeevan Mission, a national flagship programme of Government.

Centre amends Flag Code to allow people to display tricolour 24X7

With the Centre launching the “Har Ghar Tiranga” (hoisting of the flag at every home in the country) campaign, it has also made changes in the Flag Code of India 2002 allowing the tricolour to be flown by the public both day and night.‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ will be celebrated from August 13 to 15 as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75 years Independence.

India adds about 1.16 Lakh Kilometers of Road In 2018-19.

India has added nearly 1.16 lakh kilometers to its road network in 2018-19 to take the total length to nearly 63.32 lakh km, with a major focus on the development of rural roads.

India has also increased the length of the surfaced road network by 1.64 lakh km during 2018-19.

Scientists at Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) have come up with a new approach of revitalizing the efficacy of existing antibiotics to counter the rising menace of multidrug-resistant bacteria. They are using obsolete antibiotics in combination with antibiotic adjuvants -- ingredients that can weakly perturb bacterial membrane.

Foundation Stone Laid For 8th Hi-Tech park in Natore under the Indian Line of Credit to Bangladesh.

This is the 8th park out of 12 IT/Hi-Tech parks under the Indian Line of Credit (LOC) extended to Bangladesh. The financial assistance worth USD 193 million under Line of Credit is offered by India. The agreement for setting up Hi-Tech parks in 12 districts of Bangladesh, reached in 2015 between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A new draft Bill on the Development of Enterprise and Services Hub (DESH) will replace the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Act.
