UIDAI HQ Building wins top Green Building Award

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Headquarter in New Delhi has won the prestigious GRIHA Exemplary Performance Award 2022, a top national level Green Building Award. GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) is a national rating system for green buildings in India. In 2021, UIDAI HQ building was adjudged the runners up.

The Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2021-22 jointly won by Sudeep Sen and Shobhana Kumar

The Rabindranath Tagore Literary Prize 2021-22 has been jointly won by Sudeep Sen for his genre and formbender Anthropocene: Climate Change, Contagion, Consolation (Pippa Rann Books & Media, 2021) and Shobhana Kumar for her haibun collection A Sky Full of Bucket Lists (Red River, 2021). The winners, awarded $10,000 and a Rabindranath Tagore statuette.

RBI's revised bank locker rules to come into effect from 1st of January

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has mandated banks in the country to renew their locker agreements with existing locker customers by Ist January. Sitiveni Rabuka becomes Fiji's new Prime Minister

Sitiveni Rabuka has become Fiji’s prime minister after a coalition of parties voted to install him, signalling an end to Frank Bainimarama’s 16 years in power. Fiji’s Social Democratic Liberal party held the balance of power and voted to form a coalition with Rabuka’s People’s Alliance and the National Federation party. Rabuka’s coalition holds 29 seats in parliament.

India growth may moderate to 6.1% in FY24, IMF says

India’s economic growth is expected to moderate to 6.1% in FY24 from 6.8% estimated for the current fiscal because of high oil prices, weaker external demand, and tighter financial conditions, the International Monetary Fund said in its report. It expects inflation in India to ease gradually over the next two years. IMF projected India’s inflation at 6.9% in 2022-23.

Sri Lanka, Russia In Talks To Utilise Indian Rupee In Foreign Trade

Sri Lanka has agreed to use the Indian rupee for foreign trade after the Indian government said that it is looking for ways to bring countries into the ambit of the Indian rupee trade settlement mechanism that has a shortage of dollars. Reportedly, Sri Lankan banks have opened special rupee trading accounts called – Special Vostro rupee accounts, or SVRA – for trading.

FIT Rank provides a ranking for the MSME, based on its financial, income, and trade data on a scale of 1 to 10, FIT Rank 1 being for the least risky MSME and FIT Rank 10 being for the most at-risk MSME.
