Indian Navy To Get Autonomous Armed Swarm Boats Under The SPRINT Scheme

In a significant boost to the Indian Navy’s (IN) capabilities, the Navy will get autonomous armed Swarm boats from Sagar Defence Engineering Pvt Ltd, the company tweeted.

The contract was signed under the SPRINT programme, which is "a scheme to promote niche defence technologies by Indian domestic companies".

The scheme was launched in July 2022 by Prime Minister Sh. Modi.

RS Sodhi steps down as Amul MD; Jayen Mehta takes interim charge

Amul Federation's managing director RS Sodhi,who has been leading the Amul since 2010, stepped down.

The decision to replace Sodhi was taken at the board meeting of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), the farmers' cooperative that operates the Amul brand.

He has been replaced for an interim period by Jayan Mehta, Amul's incumbent chief operating officer.

RBI lists 6 rating agencies for banks' capital adequacy purposes

The Reserve Bank of India released a list of domestic credit rating agencies banks are advised to use for risk weighting their claims about capital adequacy. It listed Acuite Ratings & Research Limited, Credit Analysis and Research Limited (CARE), CRISIL Ratings Limited, ICRA Limited, India Ratings and Research Private Limited, and INFOMERICS Valuation and Rating Pvt Ltd.

Banks’ gross bond issuances surged ₹90,000 cr in April-Dec 2022

Gross bond issuances by banks surged to ₹90,000 crore in the April-December FY23 against ₹70,000 crore in FY22, surpassing the previous high of ₹80,000 crore in FY17, as they scrambled to bridge the gap between credit and deposit growth, according to ICRA. The credit rating agency expects overall gross bond issuances by banks to rise further to ₹1.3-1.4 lakh crore in FY23.

Joshimath declared as ‘landslide-subsidence zone’

Uttarakhand government has officially declared Joshimath a ‘landslide-subsidence zone’ in view of the growing threat of land sinking resulting in cracks in several houses and roads. Over 68 families living in the sinking town have been evacuated to temporary relief centres so far and at least 90 more families are yet to be shifted.

Forex reserves at $562.9 bn; fall by $70 bn in 2022

India’s foreign exchange reserves fell by $70.1 billion in 2022, data released by the Reserve Bank of India shows. The forex reserves stood at $562.9 billion in the week ended December 30. The RBI net sold $33.42 billion till September. Forex reserves had touched a high $642.5 billion in September of 2021, falling to around $631.5 billion towards the end of February 2022.

Anurag Kumar appointed CMD of ECIL

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the appointment of Anurag Kumar for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL).

ECIL was set up under the Department of Atomic Energy on 11th April 1967.

Dr. A.S. Rao was the Founder MD of ECIL.

KKCL replaces MPL as Indian cricket team's official sponsor

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has signed Kewal Kiran Clothing Ltd, maker of Killer jeans, as the official sponsor of the Indian cricket team, replacing gaming and esports company MPL. KKCL will don the brand Killer logo on Team India’s Kit until 31st May 2023. In September, the BCCI replaced Paytm with Mastercard as the title sponsor for all matches in home.

Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhu launches Rs 101 crore fund for orphans, destitutes

Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced a ₹101-crore fund, the Mukhya Mantri Sukhashraya Sahayata Kosh, to facilitate the higher education of needy children and destitute women. The state government will bear the expense of beneficiaries’ skill development, education, higher education and vocational training at engineering colleges, IIITs, NITs.
