India tested the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV) from Kalaam Island off the coast of Odisha.
Th HSTDV was tested for the first time by the Defence Research and Development Organisation in 2019.
It is an unmanned aircraft built for flying at hypersonic speed (five times greater than that of sound).
The Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens was renamed Amrit Udyan.
'Amrit Udyan', earlier known as Mughal Gardens, will open for the public from January 31, 2023.
Sir Edwin Lutyens had finalized the designs of the Amrit Udyan as early as 1917, however, it was only during the year 1928-1929 that plantings were done.
The Amrit Udyan is spread over a vast expanse of 15 acres.
Kolkata-based public sector shipyard, Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd. has signed an MoU with Rolls Royce Solutions of Germany to locally manufacture the latter’s marine diesel engines.
Under the agreement, GRSE and Rolls Royce Solutions will cooperate in the licence production and localisation of the technologically advanced

World Leprosy Day is observed on the last Sunday of January each year. Established in 1954 by French philanthropist Raoul Follereau, it aims to raise awareness about leprosy (now called Hansen’s disease) and teach people about this ancient disease that is easily curable today. Leprosy was renamed as Hansen’s disease. In 2023 the day falls on 29th January.
Theme for 2023 is “Act Now. End Leprosy.”
