RBI releases Monetary Policy Committee schedule for FY24

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that its rate-setting panel, the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), will meet six times in the next financial year (FY24). The first meeting of the MPC is scheduled to take place from April 3-6, followed by meetings in June, August, October, December, and February 2024.

Axis Bank launches 'MicroPay' based on 'Pin on Mobile' technology for digital payments

The first pocket-sized swipe reader in India based on "Pin on Mobile" technology was introduced by Axis Bank. As the technological solution partner, the bank introduced “MicroPay” along with Ezetap by Razorpay and MyPinpad.

The bank describes the small, inexpensive card reader as a pocket-sized gadget that allows both "insert" and "tap" options for debit and credit cards.

HDFC approved issuance of NCDs worth Rs 57,000 cr ahead of its merger with HDFC Bank

The board of Housing Development Finance Corp Ltd approved the issue of redeemable non-convertible debentures worth Rs 57,000 crore in various tranches.

The board also approved an increase of HDFC’s borrowing capacity from Rs 6 lakh crore to Rs 6.5 lakh crore.

RBI imposes Rs 30 lakh penalty on Karur Vysya Bank for rule violations

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) imposed a penalty of Rs 30 lakh on Karur Vysya Bank for violating rules.

A Select Scope Inspection (SSI) of the bank conducted by RBI revealed that the bank failed to report a few accounts as frauds to RBI within a week of the respective Joint Lenders’ Forum (JLF) decision to do so.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) Researchers have developed a three-dimensional (3D) paper-based portable device that can detect adulteration in milk within 30 seconds.

The test could be even performed at home.

SBI announces donation of ₹48 lakh for tree plantation
