World Telecommunication Day is celebrated on May 17 by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The day highlights the impact of the Internet and other communication tools on society. The ITU attempts to bridge the internet gap. The theme for 2023 is 'Empowering the least developed countries through information and communication technologies'.

Zomato inks partnership with ICICI Bank to launch its own UPI offering

Food and grocery delivery company Zomato has rolled out its own unified payments interface (UPI) offering, called Zomato UPI, which it has launched in partnership with ICICI Bank. Centre Appoints Ravneet Kaur As Chairperson Of Competition Commission Of India

The central government has appointed Ravneet Kaur, as the Chairperson of the Competition Commission of India (CCI).

She is the first woman in India to be appointed to this position and will serve for a period of five years or until reaching the age of 65.

The Commission comprises a Chairperson and six Members who are appointed by the Central Government.

RBI imposes monetary penalty on Mizoram Rural Bank, Tripura Gramin Bank for rule violations

The Reserve Bank of India has imposed Rs 5 lakh penalty on Mizoram Rural Bank and Rs 2 lakh penalty on Tripura Gramin Bank release said. According to the release, the penalty was levied on both banks as it failed to categorize certain loan accounts as non-performing in line with the Income Recognition and Asset Classification (IRAC) norms.

Mumbai ranks sixth among 46 cities globally in terms of annual price growth of high-end residential properties with appreciation of 5.5%, according to Knight Frank. World Bank Grant To Help Set Up Integrated Road Safety Enforcement System In Shimla, Nurpur

The World Bank has approved a grant of Rs 51 crore to set up an integrated road safety enforcement system in Shimla and Nurpur police districts and develop the Palampur-Sheela chowk in Kangra as a 'safe corridor. For the first phase of the project, Shimla and Nurpur have been selected, and a sum of Rs 42 crore will be spent to strengthen their emergency response.
