Sudha Murty, the chairman of the Infosys Foundation, has been named as a member of a 19-member committee by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). According to data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO), India's retail inflation jumped to a 15-month high of 7.44% in July as prices of vegetables and other food items spiked.
This is a sharp acceleration from the 4.87% inflation reported in June. A year ago, retail inflation was at 6.71%.
Previously, high inflation was recorded at 7.79% in April 2022.

Born on January 21, 1948, in Mysuru, the 75-year-old scientist, was the first scientist to initiate Chromatin Biology research in India.
He was honoured with the Padma Sri award in 2010.

India's wholesale inflation contracted 1.36% on a year-on-year basis in the month of July after contracting 4.12% in June, data showed on Monday. On a month-on-month basis, the index stood at 1.95%.
India's WPI reading has remained in the negative territory for four straight months.
