Department of Posts to release a set of commemorative postage stamps to celebrate the Paris Olympics. This prestigious event will be held at Rang Bhawan, All India Radio, New Delhi. The occasion will be graced by the presence of Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Union Minister of Communications & Development of North Eastern Region,
And Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment. The event will be further enriched by the presence of distinguished sports icons. The commemorative stamp highlights the spirit of sportsmanship and celebrates the unity of nations as they come together for the Olympic Games in Paris.
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah launched the e-Sakshya, Nyaya Setu, Nyaya Shruti and e-Summon apps for the three new criminal laws in Chandigarh. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, and the Union Home Secretary were among the dignitaries present on the occasion.
At the Chandigarh Secretariat, the minister was given a live demonstration of the various pillars of the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) functioning under the new criminal laws and their integration. With e-Sakshya, investigating officers can record videos and take photographs of crime scenes as needed.
The application also allows officers to gather information from witnesses and record their statements. Once the recording is complete, all information is securely transmitted to an evidence locker and linked to the chargesheet, which is then made available to the court electronically.These recordings and photographs can also be downloaded for use by prosecutors and defence.
The second tool, Nyay Shruti, facilitates court hearings through electronic medium. This automated system is connected with the police, prisons,prosecution, forensics, and designated access points.Whenever the court issues a summons or warrant, an alert is sent to the domain application, and a video conferencing link for judicial hearings is provided to all relevant officer
On the designated date and time, the officer or individual can join the video conference to present their statement before the court, with arrangements made for adding witnesses as needed. Attendance can be recorded, and sessions can be recorded and webcast as required.
The third application, eSummons, handles the electronic compliance of legal orders. Through this facility, legal orders such as summons and warrants issued by the court are electronically transmitted to the police. These orders are then distributed to the relevant officers via their mobile devices.
The officers deliver the orders to the specified addresses and obtain the recipient’s signature upon delivery. He further announced that Chandigarh will be the first administrative unit in the country to achieve 100% implementation of all three new criminal laws within the next two months.
The Textile Ministry is organising a fortnight-long exhibition called “VIRAASAT,” to celebrate the 10th National Handloom Day, which commenced at Handloom Haat in Janpath. The National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (NHDC), an arm of the Textiles Ministry is organising this handloom expo, the ministry said.

Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M Scindia inaugurated the Network Operations Centre, along with Dr Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, Minister of State for Communications & Rural Development, at the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) Delhi Campus.
The Centre hosts indigenously developed security infrastructure for identification and monitoring of cyber threats in the telecom network in the country. Various malicious activities such as malware, ransomware, DoS, DDoS, DNS amplification, malicious domain communications, etc can now be actively identified.
Scindia also made a pilot 5G call in the live network of BSNL. This 5G call was made utilising the indigenously developed 5G Radio and 5G core (NSA). They also visited the CDOT Centre of Innovation and the ITU area office located in the CDOT campus. During the visit, they also interacted with the entrepreneurs being supported by CDOT.
The Government of India and the World Bank have signed a $500 million agreement to construct the Green National Highway Corridors Project (GNHCP), spanning kilometers across Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh. The total project cost is estimated at $1.29 billion (Rs. 7,662.47 crore)
Scheduled for completion by May 2026, the GNHCP includes several innovative approaches to reduce carbon emissions and conserve natural resources throughout its lifecycle.
The GNHCP will provide smooth, all-weather motorable roads, enhancing connectivity and socio-economic development in the region.

China sent a new high-orbit internet-services satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China's Sichuan Province. The satellite was launched at 9:14 pm (Beijing Time) aboard a Long March-3B carrier rocket and entered its preset orbit successfully.

Janet Yang a veteran producer, has been re-elected as the president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by the Academy’s board of governors. Yang, who has held the position since August 2022, is starting her third term as president and sixth year as a Governor-at-Large.
Yang, a member of the Academy’s Producers Branch since 2002, has produced numerous films including South Central, The Joy Luck Club, The People vs. Larry Flynt, Zero Effect, Savior, The Weight of Water, High Crimes and the Oscar-nominated animated feature Over the Moon. Daljit Singh Chawdhary, a 1990 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, took charge as the director general of the Border Security Force (BSF). Chawdhary is currently the director general of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
Chawdhary has been appointed to helm the BSF a day after incumbent director general Nitin Agarwal was repatriated prematurely to his parent Kerala cadre. The Centre also sent back 1990 IPS officer Yogesh Khurania back to his parent Odisha cadre, wherein he has been appointed as director general of police (DGP).
The Centre's decision to remove the two top BSF officers comes against the backdrop of the Jammu region, along the India-Pakistan international border, witnessing a spate of terror attacks leading to the killing of several army and security personnel as well as civilians. The BSF protects the India-Pakistan front on India's west side and Bangladesh on the east.

The service provider will contribute 51 percent of the capital expenditure
while the government will cover the remaining 49 percent. Additionally, a robust Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign will raise awareness about these free emergency services provided by the government. The project is expected to create over 14,000 jobs in both the skilled and semi-skilled categories, generating significant employment opportunities.

IPO-bound Swiggy has appointed Sairam Krishnamurthy as senior vice president and chief operating officer of its quick commerce vertical Swiggy Instamart. In this new role, he will oversee Swiggy Instamart’s operating units, which include dark store operations, infrastructure operations, city growth, and expansion.
With over 18 years of experience in leadership roles in the retail and FMCG sectors, he joins Swiggy Instamart as its first COO. Before joining Swiggy, Krishnamurthy spent over three-and-a-half years at More Retail, an Amazon company (through a joint venture with Samara Capital) that runs a chain of offline retail stores.
Google Pay, Walmart-backed PhonePe, and Amazon Pay are among five payment companies seeking participation in the Indian central bank's digital currency trial by facilitating transactions through the e-rupee, Reuters reported.
Indian fintech companies Cred and Mobikwik are also seeking to join the pilot.
These payment firms are collaborating with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), the country's payments authority, and are anticipated to introduce e-rupee access within the next three to four months. Collectively, these five payment firms account for more than 85 percent of digital payments through UPI.
The Reserve Bank of India initiated the e-rupee pilot, a digital counterpart to physical currency, in December 2022. Although there was an initial increase in e-rupee transactions, they have declined, indicating the challenges faced by central banks worldwide in promoting digital currencies.
