Indian appointed as UN Assistant Secretary-General; will head UNEP New York office

Satya S Tripathi has been appointed an assistant Secretary-General and will head the UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP) New York office. Tripathi has been the Senior Adviser on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the UNEP since 2017.

Drones’ commercial use to be legal from December

Flying of drones or the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) in India is set to become legal. No permission will be required to fly drones weighing up to 250 gms. Drones will only be allowed to fly during daytime to a maximum altitude of 400 ft.

MOU to be signed for Indore- Manmad new railway line project

India’s first biofuel powered flight undertakes maiden voyage

Spicejet, powered by indigenously produced aviation biofuel from jatropha oil took a maiden flight from Dehradun to Delhi. The use of bio jet fuel reduces greenhouse gas emissions by about 15 % and cost savings in jet fuel supply.

Petroleum Ministry launches online portal for booking on GAIL’s pipelines

The online portal www.gailonline.com is the first of its kind to provide gas consumers with the facility to register pipeline capacity bookings online. It would be a first step to facilitate gas trading on hub or exchange-traded platform in India.

Current account deficit (CAD) to hit 2.8% of GDP in FY19, says SBI report
