Reserve Bank of India has launched the ombudsman scheme for digital payments. The scheme would provide free of cost redressal mechanism to grievances raised by customers for digital transactions through non-banking channels.
It will start working from 21 offices of the Banking Ombudsman.

Ministry of Finance has decided to merge two regional rural banks and name the new entity as Tamil Nadu Grama Bank. The bank will be under the sponsorship of Indian Bank, with its head office in Salem. The merger would be effective from April 1, 2019.

Defence Ministry has cleared a long-pending proposal of the Army to procure around 73,000 assault rifles from the US under fast track mode. The US firm will have to deliver the rifles within one year from the date of finalizing the deal.
US-manufactured rifles will replace the Insas rifles.
Total gross GST revenue collected in the month of Jan 2019 stood at ₹ 102503 Cr. Jan 2019 collections are 14% above the Jan 2018 collections. Gross GST collections over the last 3-month period have been 14% higher than the corresponding period last year.
