RBI raises investment limit for FPIs in debt

According to the current norms, short-term investments by a foreign portfolio investor (FPI) should not exceed 20 per cent of the total investment of that FPI in either central government securities (including treasury bills) or state development loans.

East Coast Railway has commissioned govt's 1st waste-to-energy plant which will turn e-waste & plastic into light diesel oil in 24 hours. It is the 1st of its kind in Railways & only the 4th in India. Patented technology called-Polycrack is used in this.

Study on Parkinson’s disease gets $2.3 Million award

A genome-wide association study (GWAS) titled Genetic Architecture of Parkinson’s Disease, said to be one of the largest in the country, has received an award of $2.3 million from the US-based Michel J Fox Foundation. SCTIMST, Trivandrum led the study.

India & Bangladesh signed an agreement to upgrade the 50.58 km long road between Ashuganj river port & the Akhaura land port in Bangladesh into a 4-lane highway. It is part of the USD 2 billion 2nd line of credit extended by India to Bangladesh in 2016.

Qatar signs $470 Million solar deal

Gas-rich Qatar signed a $470-million deal to build its first solar energy plant, capable of meeting up to one-tenth of peak national power demand. The Al-Kharsaah plant near Doha is a 10-square-kilometre joint venture with French and Japanese partners.

Oldest ever mushroom fossil discovered

Researchers have discovered the oldest ever mushroom fossil to be identified in rocks whose age is between 715 & 810 million years in Democratic Republic of the Congo. The oldest confirmed mushroom fossil until now was dated to 460 million years ago.
