In order to improve the efficiency, transparency and integrity of the asset classification process the RBI has mandated urban co-operative banks (UCBs) with assets of ₹2,000 crores or more to implement system-based asset classification from 30 June 2021.
As of March 2019, there were 1, 544 UCBs in India.
The Reserve Bank of India has mandated the number of layers of Core Investment Companies (CICs) within a group, including the parent, to be not more than two. This is irrespective of the extent of direct or indirect control CIC exercises in another.
The report of working group on CICs was released in Nov 2019.
The Centre will soon launch Project Lion and Project Dolphin for the biodiversity conservation of these species on the lines of and to replicate the successes of Project Tiger launched in 1973. Project Dolphin will focus on both river and sea dolphins.
