2020 Nobel: Three scientists share Prize in Physiology or Medicine

Harvey J Alter, Charles M Rice & M. Houghton were awarded Nobel Prize for Medicine or Physiology for discovery of hepatitis C virus. Trio’s work helped explain major source of blood-borne hepatitis that couldn’t be explained by hepatitis A & B viruses.

Govt removes requirement of Minimum Qualifying Service for Defence personnel for Enhanced Family Pension

Govt. scrapped the req. of Minimum Qualifying Service for Enhanced Family Pension w.e.f. 1st Oct 2019. As per existing provision, there is req. of continuous qualifying service of 7yrs for grant of Ordinary Family Pension at enhanced rate to Next of Kin.
