Rare orchid species found in India for the first time

A rare orchid species, Cephalanthera erecta var. oblanceolata, has been found for the first time in India in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district at an altitude of 1870 metres.

Uttarakhand has around 250 recorded orchid species.

Cephalanthera represents a small group of terrestrial orchids with about 19 taxa, mainly distributed in Europe, North America and temperate parts of Asia

Two-time Women's World Cup winner Carli Lloyd announced her retirement from the U.S. women's national team, putting an end to a storied career as the second-most-capped player in world soccer history with 128 international goals and two Olympic gold medals.

She will retire from international play after the USWNT fall friendlies and from club play at end of the NWSL season.

Bayern Munich, Germany legend Gerd Muller passes away

Legendary Germany and Bayern Munich footballer (striker) Gerd Muller has died at the age of 75. Muller won the 1972 European Championship, the 1974 World Cup, a Club World Cup, three European Cups, a European Cup-Winners' Cup, four Bundesliga titles and four German Cups. He also won the Ballon d'Or in 1970. His total of 365 Bundesliga goals remains a German record.

Some of the largest Indian companies, startups and multinationals with an India presence have put their outbound investment, fundraising and restructuring plans on hold as the RBI looks to introduce fresh regulations around “round tripping.” The central bank is looking to tweak the existing regulations and has come up with draft rules around round tripping.

BLS's subsidiary, Starfin empanelled as National Business Correspondent for Bank of Baroda

The subsidiary of BLS International, Starfin India signed a contract with Bank of Baroda to support the financial inclusion mission of Govt of India.

Under the contract, the company is the official National Business Correspondent (NBC) to deliver last mile banking services in rural and urban areas across India.

Starfin is already empanelled as the NBC of SBI.

Citibank becomes first US bank to set up unit in IFSC at GIFT City

Citibank, headquartered in the USA and has a strong international presence, received a license from the IFSC Authority to set up its banking unit at India’s first International Financial Services Centre at GIFT City, Gujarat.

With this, Citibank will become the first US-based bank to set up a branch in GIFT-IFSC. Citibank will be serving both Indian & global customers.

Tata Motors has joined hands with Bank of Maharashtra to offer car loan facilities for its New Forever range of passenger vehicles.

In Jammu and Kashmir, the Army organised a 400 Km “JAZBAA-E- TIRANGA” Relay Marathon.
