Indo-Canadian Anita Anand appointed Canada’s defence minister

Indo-Canadian Anita Anand became just the second woman to be appointed Canada’s minister of national defence as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his new cabinet.

The ministers were sworn in by governor-general Mary May Simon in a ceremony at Rideau Hall in Ottawa.

She is the first woman to serve as defence minister since Kim Campbell in the 1990s.

In June 2021, HDFC Bank had said its board has given approval to buy more than 3.55 crore shares in group firm HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company for over Rs 1,906 crore from the parent company Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC).

75th Infantry Day: IAF remembers role of 'Parashurama' aircraft in transporting army troops to J-K in 1947

To commemorate the 75th Infantry Day on 27 October, The Indian Air Force recalled the history of vintage aircraft 'Parashurama'-- one of the refurbished Dakotas-- that played a major role in transporting troops of the 1st Sikh Regiment to Srinagar during the war with Pakistan in 1947.

It is also remembered as the first military event of Independent India.
