The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights which is mandated to spread child rights literacy held a one day Orientation cum Sensitization programme on ‘Child Rights: Contemporary Challenges in Telangana’ in Hyderabad which was inaugurated by the Governor of Telangana and Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan.

The Report of Expert Committee on SVAMITVA Scheme was released during the National Conference on SVAMITVA Scheme and Rural Planning held on 3rd November, 2022 at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The report, released by Sunil Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, provides the guiding principles that States may adopt in order to realize the objectives of the SVAMITVA Scheme.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat releases Dynamic Ground Water Resource Assessment Report 2022

The assessment was carried out jointly by Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) and States/UTs, which can be used for taking suitable interventions by various stake-holders. As per the 2022 assessment report, the total annual ground water recharge for the entire country is 437.60 billion cubic meters (BCM) and annual ground water extraction for the entire country is 239.16 BCM.

IMF to provide $4.5 bn loan for Bangladesh to combat economic crisis

Bangladesh and the IMF reached a preliminary agreement under which the global lender will provide a USD 4.5 billion support package to stabilise its economy and protect the vulnerable people.

Bangladesh is the third South Asian nation after Sri Lanka and Pakistan to secure a bailout package from the IMF to tide over the sharp rise in food and energy prices.

At Ramsar COP14, China Pledges to Expand and Protect Wetlands

China plans to incorporate 11 million hectares of wetlands into its national park system and implement about 30 wetland restoration projects.

The pledges were made during 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, or Ramsar COP14, which is being jointly held in the central Chinese city of Wuhan and Geneva in Switzerland.

Govt declares census, NPR database as critical information infrastructure

The government has declared as critical information infrastructure certain databases related to the Census and the National Population Register (NPR).

In a notification, the Union home ministry said the decision has been taken after exercising the powers conferred to it under the Information Technology Act, 2000, (Amended 2008).

Portugal is one of 30 organizations/countries so far to join drought resilience alliance at COP27

Spain and Senegal have launched the International Drought Resilience Alliance (IDRA), which is joined by 29 countries, including China, the United States and Portugal, the European Union and 30 organisations.

The IDRA was launched by Spanish prime minister, Pedro Sánchez, and Senegalese president, Macky Sall, in Egypt, during the 27th UNCCC (COP 27).

Mumbai wins Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022

Mumbai defeated Himachal Pradesh to win the 2022 edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. It was the first time that Mumbai won the trophy.

Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were the dominant teams when it comes to SMAT. However, both teams were not able to do well in this edition.
