Former world rapid champion Koneru Humpy has won India’s first-ever Silver medal in the FIDE World Blitz Chess Championships in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Humpy defeated China’s Zhongyi Tan to win Silver in the 17th and final round. Fourth seeded Humpy scored an impressive 12.5 points, just half a point behind the gold medal winner Bibisara Balabayeva of Kazakhastan.
Humpy is the second Indian to win a medal at World Blitz, after Viswanathan Anand.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh said that National Research Development Corporation will undertake Technology Commercialization for benefit of Start-Ups from 1st January. NRDC assists the Inter-Ministerial Board of DPIIT in technically evaluating Startups for their recognition to avail benefits extended by the government and 7500 applications has been assessed.
Over 16,554 tribal villages have been covered so far under the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana for the integrated development of tribal dominated villages. Tribal Affairs Ministry said, an amount of over 1,900 crore rupees has already been released to the States. The objective of scheme is to achieve socio-economic development of selected villages through convergence.
The Government said that more than eight crore 50 lakh teleconsultations have been conducted at Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres till now through e-Sanjeevni. India has surpassed a notable landmark of 1.50 lakh Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres across the country. The Tamil Nadu government operationalised the ‘Nilgiri Tahr project’ touted as the first-of-its-kind in the country which aims at restoring the original habitat of the state animal and stabilising its population. With a budgetary outlay of Rs 25.14 crore, the five-year initiative will set up a dedicated team headed by a project director to deal with the conservation.
The growth rate in the production of eight core sectors jumped to 5.4 percent in November against 3.2 percent in the corresponding month last year. In October 2022, the core sectors’ output growth of eight infrastructure sectors – coal, crude oil, natural gas, refinery products, fertiliser, steel, cement and electricity had stood at 0.9 percent.
It stood 8.0 percent during April-October this fiscal, compared to 13.9 percent year ago.
The India-assisted 720 Megawatts Mangdechhu Hydroelectric Power Project has been handed to Druk Green Power Corporation in Bhutan. With the handing over of the project, India and Bhutan have successfully completed four mega hydroelectric power projects. The Institute of Civil Engineers, London awarded the project with Brunel Medal 2020 as a recognition of its excellence.

Digitally capturing the attendance of workers employed under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme has been made universal by the Centre from January 1, 2023. The government for transparency and accountability in May 2021, had started a pilot project to capture attendance via a mobile application, the National Mobile Monitor System(NMMS).
