The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of Shinku La Tunnel on the Nimu-Padam-Darcha road link to provide all-weather connectivity to the border areas of Ladakh.
The length of the tunnel will be 4.1 km. It will be completed by December 2025.
It will help connect the Ladakh area, especially Zanskar Valley, with the entire country.
The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between India and Chile for cooperation in the field of agriculture and allied sectors.
The MoU shall enter into force upon its signature and shall remain in force for a period of five years from the date of execution after which it shall be automatically renewed for a further period
The Félix Houphouët-Boigny Peace Prize awarded to Merkel is named for Ivory Coast’s first president after independence from France in 1960. The award was presented to Merkel in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast’s capital and the hometown of the late Houphouët-Boigny.
Mrs. Merkel led Germany for 16 years, since handing over to successor Olaf Scholz in December 2021.
Moldova’s President Maia Sandu has nominated her security advisor and secretary of the national security council, Dorin Recean, to head the government as the new prime minister.

The Union Cabinet has approved the centrally-sponsored Scheme called ‘Vibrant Villages Programme’ for financial years 2022-23 to 2025-26 with an outlay of ₹4,800 crore. The target is to develop the villages along the China border.
There will not be an overlap with the Border Area Development Programme. Of the ₹4,800 crore, a sum of ₹2,500 crore would be used for roads.

Under this agreement, diplomatic and official passport holders will be able to enter, transit, and stay in each other territories without a visa for a period not exceeding 90 days.

Drone startup Garuda Aerospace unveiled its latest drone, SURAJ, a solar-powered unmanned reconnaissance J-Glider, at Aero India 2023.
