The theme for this year's World Intellectual Property Day 2023 is "Accelerating Innovation and Creativity: Women and IP".
World Intellectual Property Day dates back to the year 2000 when the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) designated April 26 as a day to raise awareness about the importance of intellectual property rights.
Former Punjab chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch Parkash Singh Badal passed away.
Parkash Singh Badal served as the Chief Minister of Punjab five times. He was the chief minister from 1970-1971, from 1977-1980, from 1997-2002, and from 2007-2017 (two consecutive terms). He was also the youngest Chief Minister to have ever hold office in the state of Punjab.
Personal income tax as a percentage of GDP has gone up from 2.11% in 2014-15 to 2.94% in 2021-22 fiscal, indicating that taxpayer base is widening.
The personal income tax collection (including Securities Transaction Tax) increased to over Rs 6.96 lakh crore, from over Rs 2.65 lakh crore in 2014-15.

HDFC Bank said the Monetary Authority of Singapore has given an approval for merger of HDFC Investments and HDFC Holdings with parent HDFC Ltd. As part of a composite scheme of amalgamation, Griha Pte, a wholly-owned subsidiary of HDFC Investments and a foreign step-down subsidiary of HDFC Ltd., received approval for the merger with HDFC Bank.

The share of Government Health Expenditure in country’s total GDP has increased from 1.13 percent in 2014-15 to 1.35 percent in 2019-20.
The share of Government Health Expenditure in Total Health Expenditure has increased also from 29 percent in 2014-15 to 41.4 percent in 2019-20.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India(Sebi) barred stock brokers from pledging clients’ funds with banks.
At present, stock brokers and clearing members pledge clients funds with banks which in turn issue bank guarantees to clearing corporations for higher amounts.
All existing bank guarantees created out of clients’ funds should be wound down by September 30, 2023.
