General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC Re) appointed Ramaswamy Narayanan as its new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), effective from October 1, 2023.
He will replace Devesh Srivastava, whose four-year term ended in September.
Financial Services Institution Bureau (FSIB) recommended Ramaswamy as the head of GIC Re in June 2023.

The Government of India today notified the constitution of the National Turmeric Board. The National Turmeric Board will focus on the development and growth of turmeric and turmeric products in the country. India is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of turmeric in the world.

Slice, a financial technology company, said, Slice and North East Small Finance Bank (NESFB) has merged with it after getting approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The Reserve Bank of India announced the appointment of Muneesh Kapur as the Executive Director, effective from October 3. In his new capacity, Kapur will oversee the Department of Economic and Policy Research. Before this role, he acted as the Adviser-in-Charge of the Monetary Policy Department and held the position of Secretary to the Monetary Policy Committee.
The Reserve Bank of India constituted an external working group on expected credit loss (ECL) based framework for provisioning by banks. The ECL model proposed by the regulator, where banks have to recognize stress much earlier, is in contrast to the existing regime where banks make provisions after incurring losses.

The Warehousing Development Regulatory Authority (WDRA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bank of India to provide funding against electronic negotiable warehouse receipts. The agreement aims to facilitate farmers and traders by offering low-interest rate loans. The primary objective of the MoU is to raise awareness about funding opportunities of e-NRWs
