Angelo Mathews becomes first international cricketer to be timed out

Sri Lanka’s Angelo Mathews has made unwanted history after becoming the first player in 146 years of international cricket to be timed out.

Mathews was timed-out after Shakib Al Hasan, the opposition captain, successfully appealed in the 25th over of the first innings. The on-field umpires asked Shakib twice if he wanted to withdraw the appeal.

Centre launches ‘Bharat Atta’, consumers can buy at ₹27.50/kg

The Centre launched the pan-India sale of wheat flour (atta) to be sold at ₹275 per bag (10 kg) under the “Bharat Atta” brand amid rising prices of flour.

Bharat Atta will be sold by cooperatives NAFED, NCCF and Kendriya Bhandar through their 2,000-odd outlets spread across the country and 800 mobile vans.

Sweden's Saab bags India's first 100% FDI in defence project

India has cleared the first 100% foreign direct investment (FDI) in the defence sector, with permissions granted to Sweden's Saab to set up a new facility that will manufacture rockets.

The FDI proposal, valued at under ₹500 crore, was cleared last month. India currently allows up to 74% FDI in the defence sector under the automatic route.

Govt authorises SBI to issue and encash Electoral Bonds with effect from November 6 to 20

The Government of India has authorised the State Bank of India to issue and encash Electoral Bonds through its 29 Authorised Branches with effect from 6th to 20th of this month.

The Electoral Bonds shall be valid for 15 calendar days from the date of issue and no payment shall be made to any payee Political Party if the Electoral Bond is deposited after expiry of validity.

NMDC kicks off gold mining project in Australia

Indian state-owned iron ore miner NMDC Ltd's (NMDC.NS) subsidiary Legacy Iron Ore Ltd is set to mine gold in western Australia.

This marks NMDC's first gold mining venture, with ore processing scheduled to commence in March 2024.
