About CTET 2020

CTET exam is conducted twice annually for the recruitment of teachers in Primary and upper primary stages in public & private schools. This paper is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The 2 cycles of paper are conducted in July & December month every year.

CTET 2020 Exam Pattern

The candidates applying for CTET are required to appear for 2 exams - Paper 1 & Paper 2. The detailed exam pattern for both CTET Paper 1 & CTET Paper 2 are given below for your reference

CTET 2020 Notification

The Central Board of Secondary Education released the notification for the recruitment of teachers in primary and upper primary stage across the country. CTET is a bi-annual exam conducted twice a year, one in july and other in december. Candidates need to score at least 90 out of 150 marks to clear the exam. CTET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Age Criteria

  • Minimum: 18 years
  • Maximum: Nil

Educational Qualifications

For Candidates Aspiring to teach (Classes I-V) - Primary Stage

Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known) OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations, 2002. OR Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed). OR Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 2- year Diploma in Education (Special Education)*. OR “Graduation with at least 50% marks and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)” ((a) who has acquired the qualification or Bachelor of Education from any NCTE recognized institution shall be considered for appointment as a teacher in classes I to V provided the person so appointed as a teacher shall mandatorily undergo a six month Bridge Course in Elementary Education recognized by the NCTE, within two year of such appointment as primary teacher.)

For Candidates Aspiring to teach (Classes VI-VIII) - Elementary Stage

Graduation and passed or appearing in final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known). OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed). OR Graduation with at least 45% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations issued from time to time in this regard. OR Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed). OR Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in final year of 4- year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)*. OR Any candidate having qualified B.Ed. Program recognized by the NCTE is eligible to appear in TET/CTET. Moreover, as per the existing TET guidelines circulated vide NCTE letter dated 11-02-2011, a person who is pursuing any of the teacher education courses (recognized by the NCTE or the RCI, as the case may be) specified in the NCTE Notification dated 23rd August 2010 is also qualified to appear in the TET/CTET.

CTET 2020 Vacancy - Details

The CTET exam is more of a certification exam and does not need any number of vacancies for the direct recruitment. Candidates become eligible to take up the teaching job after clearing the CTET exam.

CTET 2020 Application Process

Prerequisites for Applying Online

Before applying online, candidates should,

  • photograph (4.5cm × 3.5cm)
  • signature (with black ink)
  • ensuring that all these scanned documents adhere to the required specifications as given in Annexure III to this Advertisement.

Application Fees/ Intimation Charges

For Either Paper 1 or Paper 2

  • General Category – ₹1000
  • SC/ST/differently abled person – ₹500

For Both paper 1&2

  • General Category – ₹1200
  • SC/ST/differently abled person – ₹600

Steps to Apply for CTET Exam Online

  • Go to the CTET website
  • Click on Online Application Link
  • Fill the CTET Online Application Form (Go through the notification for details of the procedure)
  • Make the Online Payment of Application Fees
  • Take a Print out of the Application form

CTET Admit Card

Admit cards are released 10-15 days prior to the actual examination date by the CTET Authority. The direct link to the download the CTET Admit card would be made available here once the admit card is released. Check details here

CTET Cutoffs

There is no cutoff that is declared for the CTET exam. If candidates score more than the desired percentage, they are considered CTET cleared or else they are rejected.
