11 February: International Day of Women and Girls in Science

In order to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, the UN declared 11 February as the International Day of Women & Girls in Science.

World Unani Day is celebrated on 11th of February each year, to mark the birth anniversary of great Unani scholar and social reformer Hakim Ajmal Khan. He was an eminent Indian Unani physician & founder of scientific research in Unani System of Medicine.

Lending from CRR buffer to get 5-year exemption: RBI

The RBI has said that the special lending window with Cash Reserve Ratio exemption will be open from 14th of February for six months ending 31st of July, and incremental loans disbursed under this facility will have CRR exemption for the next five years.

Karen Pierce appointed first female British ambassador to US

Dame Karen Pierce, the UK's permanent representative to the UN, has been appointed Britain’s ambassador to US, becoming the first woman to hold the position – the most prominent in the diplomatic service. She replaced Kim Darroch who resigned forcefully.

Mumbai, Kolkata see highest women, child trafficking cases: NCRB study

The highest incidence of children & women being trafficked were observed from the cities of Mumbai & Kolkata, according to the National Crime Records Bureau study. The data on missing children and women was compiled on the directions of the Supreme Court.

Rajasthan to create separate identity card for the transgender community

A major initiative by the Gehlot Government to connect the transgender community with the mainstream society has been undertaken. Now, separate identity cards will be issued for transgenders in the state to get the benefit of government jobs & schemes.

AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy inaugurated first Disha Mahila Police Station

CM Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy launched the first Disha Police Station of the state at Rajamahendravaram, Andhra Pradesh. Government plans to set up a total of 18 such police stations across the state to exclusively deal with crimes against women and children.

The Centre has decided to rename the National Institute of Financial Management, Faridabad, as ‘Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management’ (AJNIFM). NIFM, Faridabad was set up in 1993 as a registered society under the Ministry of Finance.

Aditya Mehta triumphs Pankaj Advani

Ace cuiest Aditya Mehta defeated multiple-time world champion Pankaj Advani 6-2 to win the National Snooker Championship in Pune. Mehta represented the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board. In the women's snooker finals Vidya Pillai edged out Amee Kamani.

RBI issues draft framework for setting up competitor to NPCI

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a draft framework for authorisation of a pan-India new umbrella entity (NUE) for retail payment systems.The NUE could choose to be a for-profit entity or a not-for-profit as defined under Section 8 of the Companies Act.
