Scottish writer Douglas Stuart wins Booker prize for novel Shuggie Bain

Douglas Stuart has won the 2020 Booker Prize for fiction with his debut novel Shuggie Bain, which described a boy growing up in Glasgow in the 1980s with a mother battling addiction.Booker Prize is considered one of the leading prizes for literary fiction.

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit promulgates ordinance to ban online gaming

The ordinance provides for banning “electronic transfer of funds” for wagering or betting, distributing the winnings or prize money, providing for the levy of a ₹5,000 fine and six months’ imprisonment for those found to be engaging in it.

RBI panel proposes to raise promoters cap to 26% in private banks

An internal working group set up by the RBI has proposed to raise the cap on promoters’ stake in private banks from the current 15 % to 26 % in 15 years & minimum initial capital requirement for licensing new banks to be enhanced from ₹500 cr to ₹1,000 cr.

Bharti Infratel, Indus Towers merger complete; Vodafone Idea sells Indus stake for ₹3,760 cr

The merger of Bharti Infratel and Indus Towers to create a mega tower company has been completed, and Vodafone Idea has received ₹3,760.1 crore cash for its 11.15 per cent holding. Vodafone will hold 28.12%, Airtel 36.7% stake in the merged entity.
