Fitch Revises India's GDP Growth To 12.8% For FY22.

In its latest Global Economic Outlook,Fitch revised India's GDP growth estimate beginning April 1 from previous 11%. Revision was made due to stronger carryover effect,a looser fiscal stance and better virus containment leading to quicker recovery from lockdown-induced recession.

GDP growth is to ease to 5.8% in FY23, a downward revision of -0.5% since December.

Chinki Yadav won gold and India claimed all three medals in women's 25m pistol event.Rani Sarnobat and Manu Bhaker won silver and bronze respectively.

Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar won the gold medal in the men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions event. The 20-year-old became the youngest in history to win a shooting World Cup gold in the 3 Positions event.

SEBI amends valuation norms on AT-1 bonds;maturity of all perpetual bonds to be treated as 100 years from date of their issuance

In the financial year ended March 2022, the AT-1 bonds will be valued at 10 years or the call date mentioned in the bond. From April to September 2022, it will be valid at 20 years and from October 2022 to March 2023 it will have a lifespan of 30 years. Finally, from April 2023, the perpetual bonds will be valid at 100 years.

World’s 1st Catastrophe Bond sponsored by Danish Red Cross for Volcanic Eruptions Aims to Improve Disaster Relief

The project’s partners aim to raise as much as $3 million with the launch of the note,which will transfer money to Denmark’s branch of the Red Cross.The bond will cover 10 volcanoes.

Catastrophe bonds typically insure against damage from natural disasters like earthquakes and storms,with some already including volcanic eruptions in baskets of covered perils.

Smart City Visakhapatnam gets the ‘World’s First Mobile Water from Air Kiosk and Water Knowledge Centre’

Kiosk will provide clean,mineral-enriched potable water from the air by making use of Maithri Aquatech’s Meghdoot solution as a source to generate water with no dependency on groundwater & surface water resources.

It will also function as a Water Knowledge Resource Centre (WRKC) by creating awareness to public on the benefits of good water, sanitation and hygiene practices.

IIT Kharagpur Wins CoreNet Global Academic Challenge 6.0;first time a squad from India has emerged as winners in the challenge.

A team of 4 UG students from IIT,Kharagpur won the challenge sponsored by Cushman and Wakefield, KI and IA: Interior Architects.

The team worked on a hypothetical case on developing an environmentally resilient Corporate Real Estate Portfolio while gauging the impact of the pandemic, for Blue Banc, a fictitious financial institution based in London, England.

Khelo India scheme to be extended from 2021-22 to 2025-26: Shri Kiren Rijiju

An amount of ₹ 8750 crore has been estimated as financial implication of the new Khelo India Scheme (2021-22 to 2025-26) in the Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) memorandum furnished to the Ministry of Finance.

An amount of ₹ 657.71 crore has been allocated in the Budget Estimate (B.E.) for the year 2021-22 under the Khelo India Scheme.

TRIFED signs MoU with Government of Arunachal Pradesh for The Implementation of MSP for MFP Scheme and Van Dhan Yojana

The Rural Development Department in the State of Arunachal Pradesh will be the nodal agency for the implementation of this scheme while Arunachal Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission (ArSRLM) will be the State Implementation Agency.

Under this agreement, 100 Van Dhan Vikas Kendras are planned to be set-up in the state this year.

Indian Coast Guard Ship ‘Vajra’ commissioned to the Indian Coast Guard(ICG) by General Bipin Rawat.

It was commissioned by the Chief of Defence Staff at Kattupalli in Chennai.This is the sixth in the series of seven Offshore Patrol Vessel constructed by M/s Larsen & Toubro Ltd,Chennai.

The 98 meter ship fitted with state-of-the-art Navigation and Communication Equipment, Sensors and Machinery is designed to carry one twin-engine helicopter and four high speed boats.
