7th Pay Commission Salary Alert: Variable Dearness Allowance Doubled For 1.5 Crore Government Workers

The Ministry of Labour and Employment has announced an increase in the variable dearness allowance (variable DA) of temporary central government employees from Rs 105 to Rs 210 per month.

The decision from the ministry will benefit over 1.5 crore casual workers & will come into effect from April 1, 2021.

Gujarat receives $30.23 billion in FDI during FY21; highest in the country

For the fourth consecutive year, Gujarat has retained the top position in the country during 2020-21 in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI).

Gujarat was ahead of all other states by securing 37 percent out of the total foreign investments that came in the country during 2020-21.

Gujarat received a total FDI of USD 30.23 billion in 2020-21.

Ashok Kumar, the only Indian referee to officiate in wrestling in Tokyo Olympics

Ashok Kumar will be the only referee from the country to officiate in wrestling matches of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

He was named in the list of officials released by the United World Wrestling (UWW).

Ashok, who will officiate in his second consecutive Olympics.

He is a UWW referees’ educator as well.

TRIFED will now be partnering with NITI Aayog to implement the Van Dhan Yojana in the districts that have been identified as aspirational districts by NITI Aayog.

India, Israel sign pact to boost agriculture

The ministry of agriculture and farmers’ welfare has announced a three-year agreement between India and Israel for cooperation in agriculture and setting up more Indo-Israel villages of excellence to create a “model ecosystem” to boost the agriculture industry.

Jagjit Pavadia elected as president of Vienna based International Narcotics Control Board

Jagjit Pavadia, former Narcotics Commissioner of India and a retired officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs), has been elected president of the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB).

She is the first Indian to be heading the Vienna-based organization and the second woman to hold this office.

Mohali international hockey stadium renamed after Balbir Singh Senior

The Punjab Government has announced to rename the Mohali International Hockey Stadium, Sector 63, after triple Olympian and Padma Shri Balbir Singh Sr.

The stadium will now be known as Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium.

He scored five goals in India’s 6-1 victory over the Netherlands in the final of the 1952 Olympic Games.

ICICI Bank has announced the launch of a unique facility of linking a UPI (Unified Payments Interface) ID to its digital wallet ’Pockets’, marking a departure from the current practice that demands such IDs be linked with a savings bank account.

This initiative enables users to undertake small value everyday transactions directly from their ‘Pockets’ wallet.

Freedom fighter Doreswamy passes away at 103

Harohalli Srinivasaiah Doreswamy, is known for his participation in the Quit India movement and Vinoba Bhave’s Bhoodan movement. He was also a familiar figure in civil society movements in Karnataka as he had campaigned to revive lakes in Bengaluru.

He was also a journalist and ran a newspaper called Paura Vani, which voiced the aspirations of an independent India.
