NSE Foundation launches largescale CSR Project CAVACH for increased vaccination in Aspirational Districts

NSE Foundation, a Section 8 subsidiary of National Stock Exchange of India Limited, has launched an innovative programme called Cavach (COVID-19 and Vaccination Assistance Campaign for Health) in partnership with UNICEF and NITI Aayog. Dr Vinod K. Paul, Member NITI Aayog, launched Project CAVACH in the presence of District Collectors and NSE Officials.

Defence Research and Development Organisation successfully flight tests New Generation Akash Missile off Odisha coast

India successfully flight-tested the New Generation Akash Missile (Akash-NG) off the Odisha coast.

The missile system has been developed by the Defence Research & Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories.

The surface-to-air missile was launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR).

IIT Ropar develops first-of-its-kind Oxygen rationing device – AMLEX

To increase the life of medical oxygen cylinders threefold, the Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar has developed a first-of-its-kind Oxygen Rationing Device – AMLEX that supplies a required volume of oxygen to the patient during inhalation and trips when the patient exhales CO2. This process saves oxygen which otherwise unnecessarily get wasted.

Amazon rainforest now emitting more CO2 than it absorbs

The Amazon rainforest is now emitting more carbon dioxide than it is able to absorb, scientists have confirmed for the first time.

The emissions amount to a billion tonnes of carbon dioxide a year, according to a study. The giant forest had previously been a carbon sink, absorbing the emissions driving the climate crisis. Most of the emissions are caused by fires.

U GRO Capital announced the launch of a co-lending partnership for micro, small and medium enterprises with Bank of Baroda.

It is a ₹1,000-crore co-lending programme that will allow MSMEs to avail customised lending solutions at a competitive rate of interest with a significant reduction in turn-around time.

The loan amount ranges from ₹50 lakh to ₹2.5 crore

2032 Olympics awarded to Brisbane, 3rd Australian city to host Games after Melbourne and Sydney

Brisbane was announced as the host of the 2032 Olympics, thus becoming the third Australian city to host the Games.

Australia became only the second country in the world, after the United States, to host the Olympics in three different cities.

Brisbane had been chosen as the "preferred host" in February.

Shooter Rubina Francis (21) has set a world record at the ongoing Para Sport Cup in Peru. She has won gold in the 10-metre air pistol para-event for women. Scoring 238.1 points, she went past the world record of Aysegul Pehlivanlar of Turkey. This win also secured her the quota for India at the Tokyo Summer Paralympics 2020.

Turkey, Azerbaijan hold joint military drills in Baku

The Turkish and Azerbaijani militaries completed joint drills in Baku.

The two countries deployed tanks, helicopters, and drones in the drills in an effort to improve the two countries' combat interoperability.

China unveils world's first 600 km/h high-speed maglev train

China unveiled a homegrown magnetic levitation train capable of reaching 600 kph, the fastest train ever built by the country.

The new train's speed approaches the 603 kph world record set by a Japanese maglev built by Central Japan Railway, ushering in an intense competition for technical supremacy in the high-speed train market.

Pedro Castillo declared president-elect of Peru

Rural teacher-turned-political novice Pedro Castillo became the winner of Peru’s presidential election after the country’s longest electoral count in 40 years. Castillo, whose supporters included Peru’s poor and rural citizens, defeated right-wing politician Keiko Fujimori by just 44,000 votes.
